If you have ever traveled the byways and highways of Texas, you can quickly understand the state's beauty and attraction. Texas is covered with county roads and farm to market highways that spread all across the Lone Star state and bring together all sorts of people and places.
That's a great way to start to talk about FM 1863. Members of this band have influences from all points on the musical compass. With roots in the singer/songwriting genre, they mix harmonies and musical talents to form yet another unique sound on the Texas Music scene.
It started with Brian Faust and Breese Morse picking guitars by a roarin' chiminea fire on a porch in Bulverde, Texas. On one magical night, all different influences of music came together as they sang songs coined by Nancy Griffith, Steve Earle, Robert Earl Keen, and the King of Texas Cool, Willie Nelson. Soon after adding the driving bass lines and high harmonies of Arnie Alexander, the FM 1863 sound was soon formed.
The band's first independent release, Fine Texas Days, emulates this same recipe. The project includes 9 original songs that speak of every emotion. The tracks talk about getting away for an afternoon vacation in The Road Song to the hope of a new tomorrow with One Way Rental. The band also adds a local Tex Mex feel with Adios Amigos, and follows that up with the self-reflecting Back Where I Belong. To top it all off, the guys throw in their own tribute to Johnny Cash and Elvis Presley with a medley of Folsom Prison and That's Alright Mama.
Just like the back roads of the Texas Hill Country, with FM 1863 you never know what's around the next turn. So when you are travelling on your musical journey, take the next exit...FM 1863... Real. Texas. Music.
