O Festival Músicas do Mundo de Sines assinalou dez anos em 2008 com o programa mais extenso da sua história. Foram quarenta espectáculos e iniciativas paralelas repartidos por quatro palcos montados na aldeia de Porto Covo (junto ao Porto de Pesca) e na cidade de Sines (Centro de Artes de Sines - CAS, Avenida Vasco da Gama e Castelo). Em relação a 2007, as principais novidades foram o reforço do programa no Centro de Artes, passando a haver também concertos na zona exterior, e a inclusão de um segundo concerto na madrugada de música junto à praia, na Avenida Vasco da Gama. A estimativa de público presente é de 85 mil a 90 mil espectadores. Data da próxima edição: 17-25 de Julho 2009.

Festival Músicas do Mundo, the biggest world music party in Portugal, was 10 years old in 2008 and celebrated the anniversary with the largest and strongest programme ever. Ten full days of music with 40 concerts and parallel initiatives took place on four stages set in the village of Porto Covo (next to the fishing harbour) and the town of Sines (Arts Centre, Beach Stage and Castle). The programme highlights included the father of Chinese Rock, Cui Jian, the queen of Bollywood music, Asha Boshle, hip hop’s seminal group The Last Poets, and BBC Radio 3 World Music Awards winners Bassekou Kouyaté, Justin Adams & Juldeh Camara, Orchestra Baobab and Rokia Traoré. 85,000 to 90,000 people watched the concerts.
