About me:

LOCATION: Centennial Square, Clematis St. in downtown West Palm Beach
TIME: 4:00PM each Saturday

Welcome to the official West Palm Beach of Food Not Bomb's myspace. We feed free vegetarian food and also give out free clothes to those in need, rain or shine. We're a very small, but committed group and would be happy if we had a couple extra helping hands! We've had many people come and go, so if you'd like to get involved, feel free to come down. If you have any questions regarding this group, you can ask by message, or contact us at foodnotbombswpb@yahoo.com. Any questions regarding Food Not Bombs can be answered at FoodNotBombs.net

Here's a quick rundown on what Food Not Bombs is about...
For over 25 years the movement has worked to end hunger and has supported actions to stop the globalization of the economy, restrictions to the movements of people, end exploitation and the destruction of the earth. Started in 1980 in Cambridge, Mass. by two anti-nuclear war activists, Food Not Bombs is an all-volunteer organization dedicated to nonviolent, revolutionary social change. Food Not Bombs has no leaders and works cooperatively with members to serve (primarily) vegetarian meals to the homeless, people who've suffered a natural disaster, or underprivileged people. There has been autonomous chapters established all around the world, and now finally here in West Palm Beach. We hope you will participate in helping us make this a better world for you and everyone else to live in!

We are also accepting food donations! If you have any kind of produce, bread, etc contact us!

Bicycle Fixing Party...Come lend a hand, or a bike, or a dollar.

Where: The North Pole (that sweet backyard bike coop on the edge of Lake Worth and West Palm, you know the place...or contact us)

When: the Sunday @ afternoonish time (we'll be workin all day)

Why: For our sisters and brothers in the migrant labor community who are isolated at work camps out west in the farm lands. They need bikes, lots of em, to get to and from town so that they can purchase groceries and other necessities. Also because bikes are awesome autonomous instruments unto themselves and everyone should have such freedom.

There will be a truck coming to pick them up in July and we want to get at least 20-30 bikes ready to make the effort worth it. So what does this mean? It means that folks in Lake Worth and West Palm Beach have alot of work to do.

We need help fixing these bikes up...no experience necissary.

We need donations for simple bike parts like tubes and tires.

We need donated bikes.

You gotta a bike you don't use? Donate it to a good cause!

For more info on the group that will be collecting the bicycles visit:

20 Young Activists going to trial!! Need support! :O)

20 Young Activists who protested the building of the new fossil fuel power plant in western PBC will begin jury trial next week. Please join us in the courtroom to show the judge and jury that the public supports clean energy and the constitutional right to challenge corporations. The trial promises to be exciting with 20 activists consolidated into one huge trial, expert testimony from hydrologists, arrestees taking the stand to defend their right to protest, and the state stumbling in their efforts to criminalize dissent.

PLEASE JOIN US!
Tuesday June 17, 8 am - Press Conference at the County Courthouse 300 N. Dixie Hwy., Downtown WPB. We will gather on the east side courthouse steps

Wednesday 18th and Thursday 19th in the courtroom. Trial will be all day from 9-5pm, please come for a portion or the whole shabang! Room 9F Judge Cohen - bring a sweater as the courthouse is cold!

WEAR GREEN FOR SOLIDARITY with eco activists! Thank you for your support!

Many farmworkers live in isolated worker camps out west and urgently need transportation to meet basic needs such as purchasing groceries. See the flyer below.

If you live in or near Palm Beach County you can donate your bike to us as we are stockpiling a rather large amount. We have 20-30 now. Hopefully we can move them all out at once.

If you have access to really large trucks, trailers, or cash for renting a giant U-Haul or paying for gas, please let us know. If you can purchase or have spare innertube tires we could really use that to fix some bikes up. Lets get these bikes into the hands of some folks that could really love them.

Hello peoples of all walks of life and who hopefully share an aspiration towards necessary change and freedom,

As a group of south Florida activists attempting to keep ourselves busy and aiming to be useful to humynkind and the planet (in protection of social and humyn rights and environmental health, and in battle against all forms of oppression) we constantly find ourselves inspired to take on new ways of resisting and revolting against the many injustices that are systematic in this country and the world. This is an introduction to one of those side projects in which we, some folks from Everglades EarthFirst!, the Lake Worth Bike Co-op, and Broward Food Not Bombs, have been engaging in. We are calling it "Food Not Bars." It is still very young and we are still fine-tuning all aspects of this and were not even sure if we should be introducing the idea to the rest of the world yet until we have a better picture of where we stand legally with this project and how to better the service itself...we have already been harrassed by the police...but we have decided that the idea is honorable enough on it's own to present as long as folks are warned that this project is merely at birth stage.

As we all know the system that we live in has a tendency to reprimand, harass and often even take away all forms of freedom from those who are fighting for necessary changes in this country.
Those who fight against environmental injustices, who defend animal's rights to dignity and who fight against a

Local Residents Mobilize Against U.S. Conference of Mayors

Hundreds Will Rally For Community Control of Resources
From June 20-24, 2008 community activists from around the country will be joining hundreds of local Miami residents to call attention to affordable housing, public space, gentrification, privatization, neoliberal policies, ecological destruction and other issues affecting urban communities in Miami and around the country.

Grassroots activists from local groups including Everglades Earth First!, Food Not Bombs, Mayors Welcoming Committee, Miami Workers Center, Power U, the Lake Worth Bike Co-op, and Take Back the Land will be coordinating days of marches, rallies, bike rides, and a community festival, protesting what they view as the irresponsible and destructive policies of local governments; cutting deals with luxury developers and multinational corporations at the expense of the needs of local residents, communities and the Earth.

700 mayors from around the country will gather in Miami from June 20-24 at the Intercontinental Hotel for the 76th Annual Meeting of The United States Conference of Mayors (USCM) to debate national policy impacting America's cities and me

Come to Miami, June 20-24. 700 Mayors from all over the country will be down.

While they shake hands, sniff butts, and work at devising new ways to appropriate resources away from urban communities and into the hands of high price developers for condos in the place of cheap housing and strip malls in the place of green spaces, Folks from several chapters of Food Not Bombs, Everglades EarthFirst!, the Firefly Bike Collective, the Lake Worth Bike Coop, Power U Workers Center, and the 700 Mayors Welcoming Committee will be putting on a Food Sharing, Marching, Dancing, Bike Riding Extravaganza! This is a great opportunity to confront our immediate authorities in regards to their bad and misguided decision-making...
Why? Because these puppets allow our cities and our natural areas to be at the disposal of big business and exclusively geared to the upper-classes...
Meanwhile there is boarded up public housing going to waste, homelessness neglected and natural areas/resources mismanaged.

You Are Invited! Bring Your Laddles, Your Bikes, Your Fists, Your Love, Your Strength!

World Peace Before 2021

May 8 2008 2:53 AM

Hello. World Peace Before 2021 became YourFriend some time ago. Now I am much more accustomed to how MySpace works. So please forgive me for not 'commenting' until now. My eight-year-old-peace-activist son Axil Kollist's quest for World Peace Before 2021 is gaining momentum! I'm so proud of him. Please embrace him AND his song "World Peace Before 2021" which he performs beautifully. His performance can be seen on MySpace, his webpage www. worldpeacebefore2021. com and/or YouTube (by searching his name Axil Kollist.) It is my intention to post a new video of him singing his song every few months so people can watch his talent grow as impressively as the momentum for his quest! I'm inviting you to contact my son directly too via his email address worldpeacebefore2021@hawaii.rr.com .I'm sharing two photos with you. The first is of my son distributing his free world peace bumperstickers and the second photo is of him singing at Maui's Martin Luther King Jr. Peace Day Festivities in January 08. Very best regards, Axil's mom
