http://www.fricajames.com..Los Angeles, CA – Antigua-born Frica James announces a new single, “All Your Time,” heralding the release of her EP “Frica Is Here!” The EP is now available for sale on iTunes and Amazonmp3. You can listen to all 5 tracks at www.promofm.com/frica and www.myspace.com/fricajames.
“All Your Time,” says James, is a song recounting her first encounter with love. “It was so scary I fought and convinced myself it wasn’t real,” she says. “I will never forget the night I wrote that song. I was crying when I wrote it …” The song probes her feelings of being in love but being in fear of it and trying to run away from the frightening new emotions.
In her songs, Frica combines R&B, melody-drenched mood that encapsulates both romance and sultriness, tinges of post-modern jazz and hip-hop flavor beats. The final combination transcends its individual components, realizing Frica’s musical vision in a sound that is uniquely hers.
The song is deeply personal, which only brings even more resonance to an already-powerful song. “It’s all about accepting that I have these feelings (of sensuality),” says Frica. “I used to hate being a girl but I am accepting that I am a woman.”
Production with a diamond’s shine, a visceral sense of groove, a songwriter’s melodic instincts, a glorious voice and lyrics that are intelligent and emotive, touching our mind and gut at the same time – these are the qualities of a Frica James song. “All Your Time” revels in coming together of belly and brain and lures the listener into a more intimate relationship with Frica’s world – a world that is ready to open up even wider with the advent of “Frica Is Here!”
Frica was born into a family rooted in music and entertainment and has been singing her entire life. She and her family were in the Glory Alley Choir, which her aunt conducts to this day.
While still young, Frica came to the United States. At first, she was shy. It seems shocking given the incredible charisma evident in her songs now; her acceptance of her womanhood shines through on every piece. Because of her reserve, she spent more time listening to songs – spending time in a world with which she was already familiar – than she did meeting fellow children in her new home.
In college – which she attended at the behest of her family – her friend signed her up (without her knowledge) for The University Singers of George Washington University, where she was pursuing her studies. But Frica’s experience singing classical and operatic pieces gave her the gumption she needed to pursue a career in music. She also performed in the band Roc Solid, and further vocal training helped strengthen her musical resolve. A day life in what she calls the “9-to-5 realm” doesn’t hamper her ambition.
Which leads to now. “Frica Is Here!” is well, here, and she is also looking to set up tour dates.
Previously, Frica released the indie effort “A Little Taste of AhFrica,” an album with plenty of solos and a few collaborations. It boasted a range of flavors, including R&B, reggae, hip-hop, jazz and even some rock. “Frica Is Here!” is expanding on that and finding Frica growing and exploring as a songwriter and performer.
Songs on “Frica Is Here!” (which features tracks from “A Little Taste of AhFrica”) include: “Feed My Body,” “My Dear,” “All Your Time,” “Don’t Worry” and “Tired.”
She is currently working with A&R Select, the premier A&R firm based out of Los Angeles, Ca. Her site, www.fricajames.com is under construction and will up and running in the near future. Meanwhile, more information is available by visiting her MySpace page, as well as www.promofm.com/frica and www.arselect.com.
