DSF is the brainchild of Dan Pechacek, who's been writing songs in his bedroom for four years now. He's released five albums. The first three were recorded in the same bedrooms where they were written, and given or sold to his friends on CD-Rs, and are available by special request. The next two were done up quite nicely, with friends joining in. Jon Carbin and Ben See played on Honestly, and Ben See played on Summer Night, Winter Night. Dan is studying creative writing at Michigan State University, and plays solo shows with his LoopStation. When he's back in Oklahoma for breaks, he'll often join Ben and sometimes Zach (from The Samurai Conquistadors, Action!, and lots of other bands) to play duo or trio shows. Each experience is different from the last, and the variety is a perfect match to Dan's semi-transient lifestyle, moving back and forth between Michigan and Oklahoma.
...If you want to know anything else, just ask. Trust me. I want to talk to you. :)

ohh yeah, neat! Mine was great.. I went to the country of oklahoma.. (prague).. I got sick after a hayride though (I am still sick for some reason.. :( But it was great to see my family! My cousin is a missionary, so she had some asian students staying for thanksgiving with us.. they were so sweet! The girl's name was misota.. she was pretty :)
Haha, no problem and your music is quite nice. Lizzie actually was the reason I looked into your music. She had posted something about it on her Livejournal and everyone knows what awesome taste she has so I had to check it out. ^_^
I have no idea why we all seemed to leave at once. My ride had to go, so naturally I followed. I had my sister listen to "Laughter Over Crosswords" today. Your songs go well with a sunny fall day like today. It's pretty cool when people tell me they have one of my songs stuck in their head, so thank you. :)
Hey, I had to leave last night before I had the chance to say hi, but I loved your Say Anything cover. After last night I find myself revisiting that album. At some point I'll formally introduce myself and shake your hand and all that jazz, haha. Have a good weekend!
Do you know anyone else that's going to MHM tomorrow? I'm not super keen on riding the bus downtown by myself at night. I need to recruit some peeps from my hall to come with.
Awesome! I haven't been to MHM since I was in high school, but I've been meaning to start going regularly again. Back then I only played piano, so I'd do a couple Regina Spektor covers on the house keyboard and call it good. I haven't seen Doug or anyone in quite some time. Maybe I'll make an appearance this week. And thanks for the positive words! I agree with your conclusion. I think that the fact that I was there alone had something to do with my mood -- I just sat there and wallowed in it. Too bad my friensd are lame. If only they would realize that open mic trumps studying. Anyway, I'll see you around!
You assumed right: I have not heard of her, but I'll look her up. Thanks for the compliment -- to be completely honest, after the last open mic night I went to I felt like a completely inadequate musician all around. I'm not very great when it comes to guitar, and I guess I just felt shitty that night about my lack of skills after seeing everyone else. Otherwise I would have introduced myself, but instead I just got outta there, haha.
Hey! I kind of gave up on finding you because I had no idea what your last name was. Then I saw it in the caf on an advertisement for the Union lunchtime concert. I love your stuff! Do you ever play at Michigan Homegrown Music?
