Planxty, Bothy Band, Christy Moore, Led Zeppelin, Slade (of course!), Vin Garbutt, Joy Division, Chieftains, Tom Waits, Pogues, Bob Marley, Lee Scratch Perry, Clannad (old stuff), The Beatles, Horslips! Louise (Kate's ma, not the lovely former Eternal lass), Daniel O'Donnell (Andy's fashion icon, especially the yellow anorak in the 2005 calendar), Hendrix, The Doors, Mikey Dread, Danu, Lunasa, anyone who can bash out a good tune and sing a good song, John Martyn, Sandy Denny, Queen (oh yes!), Elvis, The Only Ones, The Eagles (they rock, no really), Altan, Michael McGoldrick, Terrorvision (well not necessarily an influence but still), John Lennon, Cream...
Fola is/are Andy & Kate, who are based in the marvellous Black Country to the west of Birmingham. Playing mainly original songs, mixed with some Irish traditional tunes and the odd folk song, Fola's strength is in their engaging live performance.
We have recently recorded a set of tracks partly at Pure Studios with Andy Seward (double bass and engineer to Kate Rusby and Eddi Reader) and partly at our own studio, An Seomra Glas...the good news is that the CD is now available from us at gigs.

Latest review of Goodnight Soldier in Acoustic Magazine
'Fola shine out like a beautiful voiced gem this month, thanks to a mini-album made up of five songs that are well played by guitarist Andy Lucas and sung by the silky voiced Kate Barry.
Fola know that there's simply no substitute for great songs, and they've crafted five that should appeal to fans of traditional folk music as well as the more mainstream minded. Keep an eye on their website to see where they're playing next. They're surely worthy of a night out'.
