As an art student (OCA-Ontario College of Art) FOLK FESTIVAL MASSACRE front man ALASTAIR MACLEOD formed "the Michael J. Fox Tribute Band" (1986-1990) with fellow art school student(York U) and drummer Paul Boddum after meeting at a local art supply store. For years the band wrote and recorded a suitcase full of 4-track recordings in Boddum's parents Scarborough basement knick named "the paneled dungeon". MJFTB disbanded before ever playing a live show when Alastair moved to the US. Upon returning to Toronto in '93 he went on to form NECK ('93-'99) with Paul and guitarist Dave Rodgers.
After leaving NECK, Alastair formed the FOLK FESTIVAL MASSACRE consisting of members of CHRISTIANA (formerly NECK), and the MEAN RED SPIDERS. They recorded they debut self titled EP (2000) and their first album "The Patsy" (2002) at Stars and Suns with Dave Newfeld. In 2004 they released their second (more experimental) full length "Something Else" at Pod Studios with guitarist Greg Chambers. The album found the group expand it's membership with vocal turns from Doc Pickles (aka Secret Japanese Girlfriend) and Derek Westerholm(the Creeping Nobodies).

The phenomenon is tunable in that the characteristic sounds and intensities of those sounds depend on the characteristics of the RF energy as delivered... Because the frequency of the sound heard is dependent on the pulse characteristics of the RF energy, it seems possible that this technology could be developed to the point where words could be transmitted to be heard like the spoken word, except that it could only be heard within a person..s head. In one experiment, communication of the words from one to ten using ..speech modulated.. microwave energy was successfully demonstrated. Microphones next to the person experiencing the voice could not pick up these sounds
