   About Camela Widad Kraemer
CAMELA WIDAD KRAEMER: Before You're Gone
Sweeping from raw, rock arrangements, into sparse, low, raspy crooning, Camela sounds as if she's whispering secrets into your ear one minute then pounding your heart, beckoning it to open, the next.

"Kraemer's graceful, confident vocals, that at times sounds like a hybrid of Natalie Merchant and Fiona Apple, draw in listeners with her melodies and gutsy sound, makng them forget that they're listening to anything other than an amazing folk-rock band. The inspirational lyrical content comes through on each song. A must listen for fans of folk-rock." Tiffany Razzano - Indie-Music.com 'Food for the Traveler' review (May 6, 2006)

So What’s the Story…

Camela Widad Kraemer’s music is folk, rock, rhythm, and a little mystic with a raspy voice. Her music has lyrics meant to express the beauty and struggle that people live, her nature is sweetness and the power in her voice is what consistently draws people's attention.

As with many gifts it takes the persistence of people around you to sometimes help you wake up to it. After so much passionate response to her singing, she put her acting career on hold and began life as a songwriter and a gigging musician. Starting with open mics in just about every city, Columbus, OH, Austin, TX, San Francisco, L.A., she would connect with the music community, share shows, share songs and grind out deeper songs and different arrangements. She found that each city seemed to have it's own "sound". To this day parts of each place color her songs with stories of city life, spiritual redemption, loss of love and love found.

Widad loves people, learning how they tick, what they think and why we do the crazy things we do. Her songwriting and performances reflect a deep wisdom and understanding of the struggle of the our experience. Her voice is unforgettable and her instrumentation simple yet pulls on the strings of longing, bringing out the mystic side of her music. Sharp rhythms at times leave way to melancholy chords and occasional ballads of sweet summer love; “Crickets & Cars” © 1999 Camela Kraemer Eve, the struggle of the human soul to know love; “Beloved” © 2005 Camela Kraemer Food for the Traveler. and the celebration of simple things in; “Forever Comes After” © 2001 Camela Kraemer Call to the Soul.

Widad has been performing live and songwriting since 1999. She’s played in Austin, San Franscisco, L.A. the Midwest, Outdoor Festivals, Clubs, intimate house concerts, weddings, churches, funerals, and birthdays all along the way. Now, living on the East Coast, Widad is in pre-production for her 5th album. She is also the founder of the Unity Music Festival an annual music and arts festival bringing together music and art with deep roots of unity. http://www.TheUnityMusicFestival.com

"Incredible. The sound is unique, but somehow seems familiar, thus it is very comfortable and easy to listen to. Her voice is rich and full of heart, I love hearing it. Everyone should hear this Music, it will enrich your lives, make you smile, bring a tear to your eye."
David - CdBaby

"Camela Widad has a stunning and soulful voice that always manages to lift me above my daily cares and troubles. Her songs are so inspiring and heartwarming, it's like groovy medicine for the soul ! I challenge anyone to try and keep themselves from singing along. It's impossible."
Noor Gigliotti - Accupuncturist Ellicott City, MD
