Folksongs For The Afterlife started in 1996 as the project name under which Caroline Schutz (now Gould) made her first 4 track recordings. She was introduced to Chris Sizemore a little while after that by a mutual friend who knew of their shared interested in pairing samples, drum loops and synthesizers with the acoustic instrumentation and minor key melodies found in some British and American folk music.
In 1999, their first (self-titled) EP was released in the UK on Enraptured. Over the next few years they started incorporating more live drums and electric guitars into their recording. Steve Toole (electric guitar) and David Gould (bass) joined the band in 2002. In 2003, Parasol Records released FSFTA's first full length album entitled "Put Danger Back in Your Life".
Folksongs FTA has been on hold for a few years because Chris is living in London. Caroline's newer band, The Inner Banks, has just released it's second album "Songs From Disko Bay". Check them out at Myspace/theinnerbanks.

I was loaned "Put Danger Back In Your Life" last spring by a friend and it's now in my top 10. I've turned everyone I know into a fan too - You're blowin' up here in Denver. Hope to hear something new soon.

Hello, Afterlifers. What we´ve been up to? Well, new album coming out in early 2007 - but it´s a weird one, recorded live in a church. Weird, but cool. ;)
hey folksongs for the afterlife...we finally got our new cd in (after the whole "getting signed, getting screwed, putting the album out ourselves" fiasco)...amy
