“Everything sounds the same!” It’s a common lament heard at every show; from the mouths of a disappointed scene yearning for something to break the monotony of the stereo-typical, cookie-cutter band model. There is desperation for something that carves its own path rather than conforming and applying the standard formula for success. The public is searching for musicians who truly believe in their music; they are searching for something real in the artists that they support. “The Following” shares that vision and has stepped up to fill that void.
The Central NJ trio has been breaking boundaries and winning over fans for more than two years with their intensity and unforgettable live performances. Fans walk away from the show wondering how three guys could create such a thunderous amount of sound and still put on a stage show that leaves them thirsting for more. The Following’s sound fluctuates from soul-inspiring melodies to fist pumping anthems and everything in between. With heavy melodic riffs, intensely smooth bass elements, and hard hitting percussive madness, The Following has become one of the most remembered aggressive punk bands to rock the underground. The Following, which began working together in late 2004, is composed of ex-members of Blind Child, 8 A.M., and Striptease; which combine to form over 15 years of musical performance experience.
Since the release of the “Be Careful of the Falling Bombs” demo in the spring of 2006, a following has been built eagerly awaiting their next step. In May of 2007, the following will release their debut full-length concept album: “Liars, Thieves, Killers, Saints”. Recorded and Engineered by Chris Badami of Portrait Studios in Lincoln Park, NJ, this record is the culmination of political views; thoughts on humanity, and reflections on life in general. It’s a story which takes the listener on a journey from naivety to an awareness that we are all capable of being the evil we despise. In a sense, we all have the capacity to be “Liars, Thieves, Killers and Saints”.
