Their intentions were good. Five random high school students from North Bay, Ontario, assembled in some degree of harmony, to kickstart the 2004 "Foodapalooza" charity effort... A group that would make even Bono raise his shades in wonder.
Unfortunately, 2004 was the year that being charitable at Widdifield Secondary became somewhat passé. "Foodapalooza", a time-honoured tradition, was no more! But that didn't stop the unlikely quintet from pursuing further musical endeavors. That April (2005), a band thereby known as The Fonts was created.
After a few shows within the walls of their school, The Fonts gained a small following. With summer just around the bend, they looked forward to expanding their "playing field", as it were. They had no idea that the next three months would present everything from hot, sweaty basement shows to a colourful, spotlit Canada Day stage.
The Fonts' rapidly increasing popularity was due in part not only to the members' varying musical backgrounds, or to their music appealing to a large audience, but also to their fans and fellow musicians, who were more than helpful in planning, and spreading the word about The Fonts shows.
In September 2005, lead guitarist Ryan Coté took a few months' hiatus to play junior hockey outside of North Bay. The remaining four members continued to play in his absence, with or without a stand-in guitarist, with success. But the return of Ryan in 2006 pushed The Fonts harder than ever before, leading to a third-place finish in the annual Pam Day Band Challenge, a popular music festival in North Bay for several years.
The band is currently writing new music and playing shows with such bands as Broken Glass Wings, Sydney, Ten Second Epic and The Soap Opera Coma just to name a few
well it would be at the elks club its 321 $ if we all pitch 50 wed have enough and wed get a fridge and a table me and dimmel iwll supply the drinks and stufff . tickets would be 7 $ drinks would be 1 $ and it would be a blast
