What? Today's globalized economy is threatening all species on this plane of existence due to global climate change & resource instability. Food & water are some of the most essential resources for human survival; yet the very cycle of life is being threatened, rendering our resources as dwindling commodities that we will fight over til we drop...
Premis 01: Political, social and environmental problems are ignored at most everyone's peril; extremist terrorism, slavery, climate change, hyper-depletion of resources (peak-oil, drought & famine), continuous poisoning of the environment (air, water, food, humans & non-humans)
Premis 02: Given this ignorance, and our active participation in a number of these problems (as well as our unwillingness to resist), there can be no justification for a single moral-imperitive if all problems are not realized &/or addressed as part of the same interdependent system.
Questions? When we claim we value our life, as well as others, do we really mean it? When we drive vehicles that add co2 to the atmosphere, are we valuing the future of our lives by offering a present of rising sea levels; killing, injuring, and displacing billions of people. Do we value life when we allow Dioxin, one of the worst carcinogenic & mutagenic poisons on Earth, to contaminate the breast milk of every mother on the planet?
Premis 03: With this realization of us being hypocritical in our beliefs & moral-groundwork, we are left with an option to actually reckon with these ideas & perspectives. The other option (which we willingly take by default) is to obscure this knowledge with the moral-foundations we already have, knowing it to be a sham.
Conclusion? Well, that's for us to make-up as we participate & advance throughout what time we have left. The single most-poignient question you can possibly ask yourself right now is, what are you going to do about it?
