Cliff Baylis and Sue Hudson perform songs mostly from America but with roots on both sides of the Atlantic, including some of their own material. There are elements of country, bluegrass, old time, gospel, blues, Cajun and traditional folk. The songs are chosen for their brief insights into life and experiences.
Foolproof have been described as "powerful and expressive with a truthfulness that connects closely with their audience". And they’re entertaining with it!
Cliff and Sue’s musical paths have crossed frequently over the last 20 years, mainly through playing for hoe-downs and barn dances. Discovering a shared enthusiasm for Americana, in 2004 they began to work together developing the duo Foolproof which has now made festival, concert, folk club and pub appearances across the South East.
Sue has been researching and performing traditional and contemporary folk and acoustic music for over 20 years, providing musical contributions to radio, theatre and community opera in Kent. Formerly with folk duo Tundra, Sue has recorded four albums and toured in Europe and the USA.
Cliff Baylis plays mandolin and guitar, both in his own duos and groups, and as a live session player for folk, blues and independent artists. As well as teaching mandolin and guitar, Cliff has appeared as a mandolin demonstrator at instrument festivals in the UK and Europe.
