About me:
Friends Of Richie I was a benefit concert organized by Scott Heustis in Hollywood on March 31st, 2007. It was a huge success and raised funds for the International Myeloma Foundation and the City of Hope, where Richie was being treated for his multiple myeloma. Unfortunately, Richie lost his battle with myeloma on March 20th, 2008. This is a huge loss for the LA underground music scene. The fight against myeloma and other blood cancers continues, and so there will be other Friends of Richie concerts. The next one, Friends Of Richie II, was on April 27th, 2008 at the Echoplex, 1154 Glendale Blvd., in Echo Park, CA, US. (Echo Park is a community near Downtown Los Angeles, CA, US) The concert was headlined by Saccharine Trust, the pioneering punk/jazz band that Richie played with from 1999 to 2007, and by Mike Watt and Kira Roessler's Dos. Other bands on the bill included The Probe, ChromoSphere, The Lofty Canaanites, Bag:Theory, The Amadans, Freehead, and Fatso Jetson. We raised almost $1,000 for the International Myeloma Foundation, and in the process raised the roof, y'all. There will be a third event, Friends Of Richie III: A Bloody Good Time, in late September, 2008. This will not only include musicians but also horror comic artists, and will have a pre-Halloween monster rally theme. More details will come as time goes on. We intend to do F.O.R. benefit concerts annually in September from here on out, September 21st being what would be Richie Hass' birthday. There will be a CD released including some of the amazing performances from Friends Of Richie I. Hopefully it will be ready by the September 2008 event.
Who I'd like to meet:
Richie Hass was an amazing multi-instrumentalist musician. An alumni of Zoogz Rift's band, he was best known of late for playing in Saccharine Trust and also with Joe Baiza's Universal Congress. He was probably the top vibraphonist in Southern California, and one of the few to play in a rock context.

   F.O.R.'s Friend Space (Top 8)
F.O.R. has 464 friends.

I was remembering a show at Taix where I sat behind Richie and witnessed his awesome technique close up. His touch was light, clean but firm, honest, and rocking. Much respect. I miss the music...

Hey, it's Michelle.

Thanks to everyone who has been support to Richie this past difficult year.

The battle may be over for Richie but as long as blood cancers affect people the war isn't over yet. It's time to do another concert, this time to not only help the IMF, but also the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

Let's celebrate Richie's memory and kick some ass at the same time.

What a fun show and for a worthy cause. Seeing Richie playing bass was super cool. Also great to see Bruce Duff, Tony Cicero, Jack Brewer, Ralph Gorodetsky, Dukey Flyswatter, and of course, John Trubee. The bands were great ~ from The Adz to Mike Watt to the Bell Rays, what a great evening! I hope the foundation made a bunch of money. Best to all.
