I make music. I'm Nuyorican. (I'm actually from Georgia, but all island 'Ricans think us states-raised 'Ricans are from New York). I spent my young years in Columbus, Georgia and have been living in Puerto Rico for the last seven years. My tastes are jazzy, Latin percussion-tainted, hip-hop influenced, and even carry a pinch of blues. Enjoy.
"From Hardships to Brooklyn" by Forbidden Dialect duo Twice the Effort is now available. "From Hardships to Brooklyn" is one of those few records that has you listening from start to finish. Tracks such as "Hanwell and Oxford" demonstrate the duo's battle capabilities while "Gumshoe" reveals their storytelling skills as Jason, the detective, follows leads on Joey, the fugitive, with production and ambiance that feels of 1950s mystery flicks. Check out Twice at myspace.com/twicetheeffort . The album is entirely produced by Gallardo. The tracks can be previewed and purchased via the Nimbit applet below:
Purchase Redd's latest instrumental album, "Break^Breaks" on Snocap below. The album features appearances from Twice the Effort and local artists DJ Rype/Maxrhymes, Attila, and spoken word artist Zatyr One. The album is available for listening in its entirety on imeem.
In "Music For People Who Like Music", Dialect producer "Redd" (Luis Gallardo) provides an endless supply of Latin percussion, jazz session-style brass, rich colorful layers, ambient texture, and his signature experimentation with pitch and speed. Download the Forbidden Dialect's latest 16-track hip-hop instrumental/downtempo project in high-quality MP3 now utilizing Myspace's Snocap music service!
"Gallardo hasn't rested on the laurels of this LP and as well he shouldn't, but his production sensibilities are as A-grade as anyone else we've featured here since we've started. We'll be keeping tabs on this lad to see what comes next, but for now, Music for People Who Like Music will suffice because it is just that. The irresistible horns of "Aperibe" dare you to disagree.
