Forbidden Son are a four piece metal/rock band from Cobh, Cork, Ireland. They have been in existence since 2005 and have been gigging and writing/recording original material since then; attracting a following in the meantime. Originally called Trinity, a name change was needed as the name was far too overused, opting for a more original and apt title.
In 2005, the line up was Jamie Stanton on lead guitar and vocals, Kevin Barry on bass and Barry Wilson on drums. In that year they created a home-made cd called Annihlation under the name of Trinity. Despite making nearly 50 of these cd's, selling them all, they dismissed the making of any more, due to poor production quality. Many of the songs featured on their first properly recorded cd in 2006.
The Lineup remained unchanged for the most part of 2006 and gigs were being played frequently, and a following rapidly grew in numbers. Finally the name change occured, where they finally settled on Forbidden Son. In the summer of 06, they got in contact with frontman of Black Metal band For Ruin, John Murphy, to record properly their first cd. In August the cd was finished, 8 songs were completed and the album (Self-Titled - Forbidden Son )rounded up to 50 + minutes. Since it was made, the cd has been heard by many and spawned yet more gigs and popularity. The Cd is 10 euro on iTunes. Lesser of Two Evils and Servants of the Forbidden Son can be heard on our myspace and a video of Downfall is there too. Shortly after the recording, Kevin Barry left for reasons of commitment and brother of drummer Barry Wilson, Peter Wilson joined the ranks as bassist, with a heavy incorporation of stage presence, song-writing and strong backing vocals. They entered the national Battle of the Bands (Blastbeat) in late 2006, reaching the Cork finals, losing 2nd by one point to KVX. New material began to be written.
Gigs continued to be played frequently in 2007 and their next album, Balance of All Good and Evil, began to be written and recorded and was finished in July of 2007. It was their longest and most ambitious album yet, featuring a heavy prog ressive influence, fusing alot more genres together while still retaining the hardcore sound of old. The album has 10 songs on it, having 60 plus minutes of material. It also included their longest song yet, the epic A Colour that Fades Away, reaching 12 minutes. Symphony in the Sky, Melodine and Arise can be heard on our myspace. A video for Symphony in the Sky was made and can be viewed on our myspace aswell, there is also a live video of Soul to Be Free. Late summer, Ben Deloughry was introduced into the band as co-songwriter and co-lead and rythm guitarist, giving FS a solid, 4 piece line-up. Many gigs have been played with Ben since then, to excellent reception.
Forbidden Son entered into recording 4 songs for their EP, Arise on March the 16th. At present, two of the songs, Reflect the Night and SOS are up, with samples from the other two songs, Bleed and Arise (Originally recorded on The Balance of All Good and Evil).
Support is always very much appreciated, and we'd love to hear your comments and thoughts on the songs that are up. Thanks again and spread the word!
