Forbidden is one of the longest running hard house nights in the country.
Sprouting in 1998 at the now infamous and, sadly, closed Club City it rocked Leicester each and every Friday til dawn with DJS such as Lisa Lashes, Andy Farley, Ian M, Nick Rafferty, Sarah G, Ian Willis & Neal Appeal appearing regularly on the flyers until the clubs untimely closure in late 2001.
We have since bounced back and have been at our current home, The Starlite, since April 2003 and remain a weekly allnighter, something that practically all other promotions have failed to sustain.
So, how has Forbidden remained a weekly event?
Forbidden's onus has always been to push new talent and not book the same headliner's that every other club are booking. Where's the sense in that? In doing so the line ups have always remained fresh.
The DJs may not be headliners or household names but they are residents for a reason:
They're f**king good at what they do.
The weekly residents, Mark Allen, Evs, Glenn Randall & Nick Hill compliment each other superbly. Each play differing styles, providing the variety an allnighter needs and yet all are versatile enough to play at any given time in the night.
The monthly residents, Sarah G (legend!), Trilby, Juggy, Rossco & Christian, Little Jay & Daryl Yare also play a variety of styles and are able to drop into any line up with the comfort of your favourite armchair.
On top of all these regular faces at the club we also bring in the best up and comers in the UK. Since the end of 2005 we have brought you DJs such as: (in no particular order)
Digital Kid (Tidy)
Lucy Fur (Frantic / CyberKitten)
Nice Guy Danny (Clubbed Up)
Steve Arnold (Clubbed Up)
Dave Owens (Munkjack / Toolbox / TurtleDog)
Richard Toomz (Insekt)
Simon Paul (Contact Records)
We also regularly offer opportunites to brand new DJs too, both local and not so local and can proudly reel off a long list of djs that we have have given first opportunities to.
Forbidden on MySpace?
Yep, since we brought Evs in to assist with the promotion of Forbidden we have put a big push on getting the brand out there again, and the internet was always going to play a huge part in that.
We realised that being away for the time we were between Club City and The Starlite had made it difficult to make people aware of our return and that the quickest and most effective way of doing so was the internet.
First came the website in late 2005, then we concentrated on the various message boards and from there we got active on DontStayIn and in 2006 most of our promotion was done there.
From this MySpace seemed the next logical bandwagon to hop on and most importantly it'll keep us modern, fresh, interesting and in touch with the people who matter to us. You.
Theres no doubting we have developed and progressed over the last 2 years, the brand has had a lot more recognition from the work that has been put in, but we've not even scratched the surface yet.
The transitional period is finally over and now you all know that we're back. Forbidden has a bright long-term future and we want you all be a part of it.
We've been 'avin it for the last eight years, here's to the next eight.....
Fridays are meant for letting go, they are meant for debauchery, dancing til dawn, and to give you a reason for going to work.
They are meant to start your weekend off in style, for being with your mates, getting lashed and not caring.
They are meant for hearing your favourite tunes LOUD, those hands in-the-air moments where its just you and the music and about having your world rocked by DJs who know YOU and what YOU want to hear, they're about your best memories and your wildest dreams and living them all in the present.
Fridays are meant to be naughty, crazy and wild but should always be Forbidden.
