Sounds Like
If Van Morrison, Paul Simon and Jack Johnson wrote songs on the road with Jack Kerouac and Ram Dass in the back seat it would sound like this...
“... alt country, folk-rock jams, creating a hodgepodge of comparisons that ranged from Jack Johnson to [Ryan Adams] to David Gray. ...even into Bob Dylan territory ... a daunting place to tread, but pulled off with the grace of a musical veteran”
—Jessica Small, Santa Barbara Independent
“…worldly singer songwriter brings the Americana home.”
—Rob DeWalt, The New Mexican Pasatiempo
“...a toe tapping adventure”
—Matt Kramer, Pacific Sun (Marin County, Ca)
“...a wealth of star-roaming storytelling and slow drawl intimacy, recalling everyone from Chris Smither and Ryan Adams to Lyle Lovett in their easygoing charms and front porch bonhomie”
—Todd Lavoie, San Francisco Bay Guardian
“…From the intimate folk sound of acoustic guitar, voice, and fiddle through full-blown gospel- and R&B-driven arrangements, irresistible rock-steady reggae, and the unclassifiably eclectic hybrids… Forest Sun rises up with an authentic, original voice.”
—Derk Richardson, KPFA 94.1 FM
"... lilting, gorgeously orchestrated hybrids of bluegrass, gospel, and folk, all in support of Sun's rich throwback croon." —Portland Mercury
"Instantly accessible…. easily one of my favorite releases of the year."
—Rosalie Howarth, KFOG's Acoustic Sunrise
“Forest Sun proves himself a writer and performer of startling and diverse vision “
—-Performing Songwriter
“Fans of Van Morrison, Jack Johnson and Ben Harper pay attention!”
—CD Baby
“This cat has what it takes to make a mark… Sun's music is timeless… as fine a singer/songwriter record as is out there.”
—Thom Jurek, All Music Guide
San Francisco Bay Area troubadour and award winning songwriter, Forest Sun has regaled audiences around the globe from festivals to living rooms and back yards with his wealth of songs and stories, all sung and told with back porch ease and bonhomie.
Collaborations on his many records include the likes of such musical luminaries as Jolie Holland, Sean Hayes, ALO, and Hot Buttered Rum. Forest is also the founder of Painted Sun Records, home to Sun’s own six records, so far, as well as Minneapolis songwriter Alex Goldfarb’s Magnifying Glass (which Sun produced), and Songs for Laura Vol 1 and 2, a benefit compilation cd to raise funds and awareness for people with cancer and their families.

"When nations grow old, the Arts grow cold, And Commerce settles on every tree". William Blake. On Art And Artists (1800). World hasn't changed then? Keep the soul. Peace, Rich
Thanks for the Friendship Add Forest!! I heard your music on myspace to answer your question. I hope you enjoyed some of our music too. The picture is me and my sons playing at a festival. Steve
so, when are you coming to Colorado? can't wait to see you live!
maybe the tiny little Gold Hill Inn in Gold Hill would be a fun place for you to play, as well as around Boulder. Try the pearl street pub, Danny will like you!
hey! yeah, no problem! i liked your music! Pandora.com is a neat lil' bugger. that's where I'm learning about a bunch of new bands i like. that's where i stumbled upon your music. im actually living in the waco, tx area. there's this lil' coffee shop called common grounds that artists like bethany dillon, vota, carter hulsey, shawn mcdonald, mmmm lemme think....sanctus real, and just a bunch of bands come play at all of the time. that would be a great venue if you're ever coming to waco. keep up the sweet tunes!
Thanks again for adding me. After hearing you rhyme prepositions and positions, I have a feeling you'd appreciate "Killing Time in Tokyonesia" on my page. I'm hoping to release my first CD later this year. Keep up the good work and take care always.
Thank yous all around from the north country mountains =) I was sitting on my back porch when I heard something on Pandora that made me move like the wind, and subsequently wrote it down but found it difficult to find again... stoked to hear these sweet melodies again brother! Let me know if you ever come to Seattle, I see that Oregon is the closest you come this time around. Nevertheless, appreciation to ya and keep up the rocking! All good things are wild and free...
