Dear Readers of Biographies,
Forgive Me Gorgeous happened because two parents who loved each other very much made a baby named Ryan Christopher Kulp, who popped out into the world on March 20, 1990. Growing up in the suburbs of Atlanta, Ryan began to chase his passion at an early age, taking up the violin in sixth grade.
A year went by, and he picked up the guitar, teaching himself through his ears and the internet. Throughout high school, he played guitar in church bands, and had his own screamo band with a group of friends, who gained considerable local recognition around the Atlanta area. They played dozens of shows, and recorded several songs at studios around the city. After breaking up in the May of 2008, however, Ryan chose a different path.
He had just graduated from high school, and wasn’t enrolled to go to college. After picking up a full time job and moving in with his grandpa, Ryan began to live independently as he wrote and recorded the 8 songs on his debut solo album, self-titled “Forgive Me Gorgeous”. The title comes from a side project he halfway started two years prior, when he was still in his screamo band, but that never amounted to anything until now.
Now attending Georgia State, Ryan is putting together a full band with the intent to cross the country and play all the live shows that he missed out on with his band.
Dear Readers of Unnecessary Information,
I started this as a side project in August of 2008. As the months went by, I got more and more serious about it, and finally recorded all of the songs in November. In case you weren't wondering, I used to be the singer in a screamo band called 'The Last Great Bridge Jumper'. If you'd like to listen to our old music, you can find the myspace for it on this one's top friends.
Everyone else in the band has a new band too, and those can also be found in the top friends. They are 'A Path Less Traveled' and 'Fled North... From Fear'.
Thanks,
-ryan
My song "One Unheard Message" is a short film!!!
Forgive Me Gorgeous (NOW on ITUNES!!)'s Friend Space (Top 8)
Forgive Me Gorgeous (NOW on ITUNES!!) has 3666 friends.
So, I played my first show last night, and I think it went well. I had fun, and the audience seemed to enjoy themselves. I made them laugh (hopefully with me and not at me).
I don't know why I'm telling you this. You talked to me and helped me when I started. I guess I assume you would be somewhat interested. I don't know.
But, it went well after the first minute. I was so nervous that I couldn't open my eyes at first. But I got into it and sounded the best I ever have (according to my roommate). And some guy asked me if I was on Itunes. I guess that means something?
Hey! Just letting you know our new record "My Life With A Giant" is out now. Pick it up on iTunes or in our web store at http://barelyblind.bigcartel.com :)
I really like your solo project. Dang man! You are going places. Don't stop writing. I don't know if i told you already, but I'm a youtube artist as well and your cover of You and Me kinda inspired me back in 2007 to do a cover of that song too. So if you watch it, just know that you inspired it! =). I really liked your old band too. The Last Great Bridge Jumper. I watched your guys' vids all the time. Loved all the tunes, but now it seems like everybody from that band is doing well nowadays too. I sound like a stalker now. I swear I'm not. Just a big fan of good music. Keep it alive dude! God bless =)
I wrote our song "Cut Down" for the troops, because they are unsung heroes. and it has made the X96 finals to open up for Blink 182 and Taking Back Sunday!
It would be a dream come true to play this show...
I see. I see. What are you going to school for? And new material? Sweet.
I've been dealing with some writer's block. I havet a couple of new songs written, but I haven't gotten around to recording them. I've contacted a local venue about playing my first show. Now, I'm just waiting to hear back from them. If it happens, it will be "Hi, I'm (insert whatever I'm calling myself), and you've never heard of me. And after this, you'll wish it would have stayed that way." But also, I do this mainly for fun and to have a place to put my ideas and not let them go to waste.
Other than that, I'm getting ready to start school again and move into an apartment with a couple of friends.
Ryan- Summer was O.K., can't believe its almost over! just been working and trying to enjoy the mild weather we've been having here in Chicago. I work with kids of all ages from 2yrs all the way thru H.S and the school year is about to begin again next week, seems like it just ended!! One thing I tell my students who have graduated H.S or who are in College now is to stay in School, working is overrated. lol especially now with the economy so crappy. I wish I was still in college, I had a great time. I'm sorry you had to miss alot of classes last year. I know it could be difficult to put your time and energy into many different things that are important but if you can find the time to do both you will definately be sucessfull. Your young and talented, Keep it up! I really love your CD, Il listen to it all the time, actually more than any other music I have. If you don't mind I use your Volkswagen Commercial song as my ringtone:) I look forward to hearing more of your music. Keep going to class and keep making music, they both will pay off!!
