“When I moved to Georgia from Florida, Lynelle, the founder of FSO had asked me to see what I could do to bring awareness to this great state of Georgia, about our mission of FSO. I must say that the response has been tremendous. The business and the citizens of this GREAT State have really opened their hearts to FSO. I am so filled with emotion at times that it speaks for itself. Being an Army mom myself, I can’t thank this State enough for showing the support they have for FSO.” Says Francine Thompson Georgia manager.
There will be all kinds of activities going on that day starting a 10am for all ages. We will have a letter writing station, where you can write a “Thank You” note that will be included in our “we care” packages. We will have the Nascar Simulator car, numerous vendors and even Karaoke/DJ, not to mention the Bar-B-Q, and Chattanooga Trackless Train to show their support for our mission. Proceeds from the day go to help with monthly operating cost of sending the “we care” packages.
Please join us for a wonderful fun-filled day to benefit FSO, whose mission is to send monthly “We Care” packages full of “a little bit of home” to our United States servicemen and servicewomen serving overseas. More than 6,000 United States Servicemen and Servicewomen are scheduled to be deployed this year alone……..we need YOUR help in being able to continue our mission in sending these monthly “we care” packages……

Our Mission Statement
The sole mission of Forgotten Soldiers Outreach is to support our servicemen and women of the United States Military, who are currently deployed in countries overseas. The volunteers of this organization prepare and ship “We Care” packages on a monthly basis to registered individuals, squadrons, battalions and hospitals. Each “We Care” package includes snacks and treats, hygiene products, comfort items, and most importantly – letters of encouragement. It is with the hope of inspiring and encouraging each recipient during their separation from loved ones and friends. Forgotten Soldiers Outreach is committed to our servicemen and women in all world theaters, for as long as they are deployed.
Our Troops Fight for Us, We must Support Them!

Lynelle Chauncey Zelnar was initially inspired, by a friend's son, Sgt. Kristopher Knight, who was serving in Iraq in the 173rd Airborne. After hearing about the soldiers in the 173rd Airborne who were becoming extremely frustrated, discouraged, missing their loved ones and even questioning their purpose, Lynelle knew she had to do something to encourage these men and women.
She sent out emails to family and friends requesting supplies to send care packages to three individuals and many unnamed soldiers. Initially five boxes of goodies were collected and shipped within a week of announcing the need. The response for those wanting to help had been awesome. Local Teachers and schools joined in to collect items and have the students write personal letters to the soldiers.
After the initial shipment, Lynelle started receiving emails and calls with additional names of soldiers. Now, years later the list is still growing with more and more names coming from all over the country on a weekly basis.
Forgotten Soldiers Outreach, Inc. volunteers increased with announcements to the patrons of The Oasis Coffee House, located in West Palm Beach, Florida. From there it took off with several of the local Palm Beach County School SACCs (after care programs) participating, as well as contributions from organizations located in the area. After receiving local media attention, as well as National media attention, FSO, Inc., years later continues to grow. Schools, organizations, religious groups, businesses and individuals from all over the country have now joined FSO, Inc. efforts in their mission. Donated items to be distributed in the individual care packages, as well as monetary donations are sent to the FSO, Inc. headquarters from all over the country. Now with approximately 100 volunteers, including the drop off centers, there is no doubt that the Outreach would not be what it is without the help of these wonderful people. We are 100% dependent on volunteers and private donations.
Francine Thompson, Georgia Manager, Francine is an Army Mom, whose Son, Shane Johnson, was deployed in Afghanistan, and like most other Mom’s she wondered and worried about the well being of her precious young man during his deployment and because of that experience, she went on to become the Georgia Manager for the Forgotten Soldiers Outreach Program, Inc.
She started with FSO back in 2005 while she was working for another not-for-profit organization; the Loyal Order of the Moose, Royal Palm Beach Moose Lodge 2245.
At the time she was the assistant to the Administrator and their membership wanted to get involved in a Community Service Project. During her investigation into several worthy causes, she came across the Forgotten Soldiers Outreach Program and because her Son was serving in Afghanistan at that time, she immediately sensed what better fit! Their Lodge held a Fund raiser for FSO and was blessed with the ability to raise $2,800.00. That was the beginning for Francine. Fortunately for the Troops, she has been volunteering with the FSO ever since then.
When she moved to Georgia in August of 2008, Lynelle Zelnar, Founder and Executive Director of the FSO in Florida, asked her to see what could be done for the troops with other organizations, in Georgia. And now she is up and running.....
