About me: Founded in 2006, The Other Woman Collective is an artist collective that was formed in order to create opportunities for a group of like-minded female artists. These woman work together to plan exhibitions, group critiques, and discussions, while at the same time providing a supportive environment in which each artist can take risks while launching their careers as professional artists.
Exhibitions include Debutante Set at Mew Gallery, The Other Woman at 201 Gallery, a POST Exhibition curated by Eileen Tognini and most recently, an installation in the Urban Outfitters window in West Philadelphia. The collective has also participated in a number of charity and fundraising efforts, including collaborating on a corset that was donated to the Linda Creed Breast Cancer Foundation.
The collective is currently made up of draftswoman/installation artist Aubrie Costello, photographer Laura Graham, sculptor Darla Jackson and painter/print maker Laura McKinley.
Please visit www.theotherwomancollective.com for more information on the collective, member’s portfolios and upcoming exhibition information.
Who I'd like to meet: Strong minded women that have something to say to the world with their art...
Video documentation of a performance piece by my friend Nate Kassel who rode around on his bike slapping high-fives to people who were trying to hail taxi cabs in NYC. Enjoy!
You have surely heard about the tragic death of a brave young woman who was murdered in Iran just for peacefully protesting with her father on the streets of Teheran.
The Trenton Avenue Arts Festival is looking for artists and craftspersons to sell their wares and their art at their 3rd annual festival. The fest is scheduled for May 17th, 2008 between noon and 5pm and is coordinated with the 2nd annual Kensington Kinetic Sculpture Derby (sure to be a loud, messy good time!).
Besides a great artists' community, Trenton Ave Arts Fest boasts the fine local foods and beer of the neighborhood, including Johnny Brenda's and Philadelphia Brewing Co. This year there will be two stages featuring local musicians as well as family-friendly entertainment.
The registration deadline is April 30th, but don't hesitate; spaces fill up fast! For more information, and to download registration forms, visit EKNA. org or email EKNAartsfest@gmail.com.
Trenton Avenue Arts Festival is organized by volunteer members of East Kensington Neighbors Association. Kensington Kinetic Sculpture Derby is hosted by the New Kensington Community Development Corporation.

THE GRAND KILN is moving steadily forward. Slowly. Comfortably. ...but steadily. I like it. It's big, like a tree migration caught somehow using a stop motion camera...
I'm asking you, and a bunch of others, to look again at what we're doing, and think if there are two, three, four friends of yours who would get an enormous kick out of where this is all going... if they only knew. For fun, if you're of a mind to, forward our GRAND KILN page to them...

They don't have to be potters or ukelele players, but they should be those among your friends who possess that soul defining spark of a mischievous sprite...
