"An unorthodox blend of high-energy crowd movers and melodic understatements. We like to slap you and serenade you at the same time."
Former Child Stars – contrary to the name – is not a band comprised of Macaulay Culkin, Corey Haim and that fat kid from 'Hey Dad'. Far from it. Rather, FCS is made up of five lovable rogues originally from Adelaide, now living in Sydney, who play some bitchin' indie pop.
With a fistful of killer shows and supports in their sky-rocket including national tours with Madness (UK) and Faker, Big Day Out, Come Together Festival, The Panics, Van She, Cut Off Your Hands, and the list goes on… FCS are readying themselves for a massive year ahead of touring the nation and playing shows in their adopted home of Sydney.
The band's second EP 'Serotonin City' was produced by Scott Horscroft (Silverchair, The Presets, The Panics) at Sydney's BJB studios is a bold statement of intent - it's catchy, edgy, full of energy and meant to played loud on a Friday night. Much like the band themselves.
Former Child Stars' glitzy new single was self produced and recorded at HotHouse Studio, St Kilda. It's a true progression of sound for the band, harnessing a more lush and expansive soundscape while still maintaining the driving, danceable beat and infectious hooks that the band is known and loved for.

THE RUBYS FIRST BIRTHDAY EXTRAVAGANZA - 4 MORE SLEEPS
One year ago, on a lonely Wednesday evening at a forgettable Collingwood pub, The Rubys played their first gig. Twelve months on, the three scrappy-looking lads have under their belts better songs, more gigs and are infecting Melbourne audiences with catchy, raw, stomp rock n roll pretty much weekly. So to mark the milestone of reaching the ripe old age of one, The Rubys are celebrating with a birthday party! With around 40 gigs down over the previous year and a wildly raucous live set, there has been a lot of jumping around and beer consumed so this Friday at the Old Bar will be no exception. Expect some wild blues-driven sets by The Volatiles and The Bellows to warm things up, and the boy’s favourite two-piece The Cheats bringing it all home. 8:30 start, $8, Party hats provided.
Hope to see you down there and we can all rock out!!
