For The Records began as a means for putting out independent records, founded by Matt Jasper, a Long Island solo musician as a means to put out and promote his musical endevours, while keeping his musical career firmly in his hands. In this day and age, it is easy enough for someone with hard work and dedication to make and put out an album, if you have enough drive and determination. However, to make an album truly successful, you need the support of many around it, and that's the enviornment which For The Records strives to create.
For The Records knows first and foremost, it's about the music, and we try to mass produce and promote records as best we possibly can, while maintaining a Do It Yourself work ethic, and an ear to the ground. We embrace the current trends in the music industry, where a grassroots following and strong internet presence will go a long way. We're interested in building up a scene as well as trying to make a successful business out of what some might say is a rapidly changing enviornment.
The first record to be launched under the For The Record insignia shall be Matt Jasper's upcoming record "As A Matter Of Fact" ( Winter/Spring 2007). This will be Matt Jasper's fourth record, the successor to "The Distance Between" (2004), "Thinking Back" (2003) and "Jasper Makes Music" (2001). Those records were previously self released under Jasper Records. Along with the release of "As A Matter Of Fact" will be a rerelease of "The Distance Between", as that record sold out within it's first year of being in print.
We're constantly looking for like minded people to help out, as street teamers, graphic and web designers, A & R or booking agents, and of course bands who want to be a part of an ever growing scene. If you are interested in joining forces For The Records, definately do not hesitate to send a myspace email.
Note: Bands who are interested in promoting their music here are more than welcome to do so. However, at this time For The Records is not actively accepting submissions for the label. Our recommendations to bands who are looking to be signed is to be persistant yet professional. Accept constructive criticism, but don't spam or slam the label you're interested in with sloppy press kits, frequent calls, or unsolicited demos. Have a presentable product, and sell yourself and your band. Give us a reason to sign you, not the other way around, and we'll take notice.
