Foster & Adoptive Care Coalition's Blurbs
About me:
The Foster & Adoptive Care Coalition is a non-profit agency, founded in 1989 with the support of the United Way of Greater St. Louis.

At our agency we do two things:

Recruitment: We are one of the area’s largest recruiter of foster/adoptive homes because of our partnerships with the local media, including KSDK and 13 local newspapers.

Resource Center: Foster and adoptive parenting is a rewarding—but demanding—job. We offer many supports to parents, including support groups, training, advocacy, newsletters, a resale shop, and the Little Wishes program.

The Coalition is made up of 38 member agencies, including the area’s most-respected public and private agencies. Our staff is made up of foster/adoptive parents and child welfare professionals with a broad range of expertise. As a non-profit, 501(c)(3) agency, we are overseen by a Board of Directors. The board is made up of a variety of corporate and child welfare representatives, many of whom are foster/adoptive parents.

We are committed to fiscal responsibility, and are proud to be recognized by the Better Business Bureau as an honor roll charity. Also, as a member agency of the United Way of Greater St. Louis, we are required to meet rigorous financial and programmatic outcomes.

Hello! Thank you for your friendship. We adopted both our daughters from the Indiana Foster System. We are now done fostering because both girls are having some major disabilities/medical issues that we are in the process of addressing. I would love to network with other parents who have adopted from the foster care system and are now facing challenges with their children.
God Bless all foster/adoptive families!

I work for APAC (Alabama Pre/Post Adoption Connections) which works hand in hand with Alabama State DHR office of Permanency and Children's Aid Society. I am also a foster parent and my husband & I are trying to adopt.

I believe that many more children in foster care would have loving, permanent homes if we can just spread the word about how much easier the process is than people think and in most cases there is little to no financial burden to finalize adoptions -- especially if you adopt through DHR (children in foster care). Private Placing Agencies tend to cost more because the state does not advocate for those children and typically does not offer to pay the fees.

2 great websites:

www. adoptuskids. org

www. heartgalleryalabama. com

The AdoptUsKids site will allow people to input their information and receive a packet about adoption/foster care in the mail. I am the contact person who will follow up with them (in Alabama). Children's pictures and biographies are also available on this site.

Heart gallery's website will give you a look at some of the Alabama children who are currently free for adoption and awaiting a forever family. It will provide pictures, biographies and you can hear their voices.

Both sites will give you the ability to search for children that are individually available or sibling groups. The AdoptUsKids site will allow you to look for children throughout the entire United States and specify race, age, gender, etc.
