For Old Times Sake started life in September 2006. Our aim was mainly to have fun, and to make a contribution to Manchester’s punk rock scene. All the members had come from previous bands, mostly short-lived and little known.
The first practise took place in the Big Fish practise rooms where we continue to get together once a week. Song writing began in earnest and we had a five song set by the end of November. Luckily this tied in nicely with our first gig, at the 1 in 12 in Bradford with The Mercury League. It was a blast, and didn’t play too badly either.
In the run-up to Christmas we started recording a demo with our friend Mike from Pendleton and his friend Sean. Due to a few of the usual delays it wasn’t done until March. It had three songs on it, and we don’t bring it to gigs anymore, but there are still some kicking around under GI’s bed.
In the meantime, we switched practice rooms in February, to an old mill which was being converted into practice space. That place was great. We shared the room with our bros in Movement Library, we could leave our gear set up there all the time, and we even had a sofa. Sadly movement library split in early June, and shortly afterwards we decided to move back to Big Fish.
In March we recorded a 30 second song for a Punktastic compilation of short songs, which will be out some time soon, we think. (Thanks to Jay of Castle Squared recording for that one)
Come April it was time to get some more tunes down. We recorded two in Nottingham with Stuck on a Name Recordings (thanks to Steph who bought us the studio time), and they now appear on a 7” split with Beasts from Leeds, which came out in September.
We spent the summer gigging and practising. People have given us the opportunity to take part in some amazing shows that we’ll never forget. We’ve played with great bands from the UK, Europe and the US, and in August we did our first tour (a six date UK stint) which pretty much rocked.
We’ve only been a band for a year now. We love getting together, ripping each other and being loud. If you want to put us on, let us know and the chances are we will say yes. Rest assured we will give it 110% and enjoy every second of it.
please check out our new record, "Find Me A Drink Home. six of the songs are on our page where the record is also available for purchase. the LP will be available soon also. thank you
