| Foundation Stepper: General Info
|
| Member Since | 3/14/2006 | | Band Website | croakinglizard.com | | Band Members | Foundation Stepper, care taker to the Sock Monster.... | | Influences | jamacian roots music: Particularly early reggae/rocksteady. Stuff like early studio one, burning spear, jackie mittoo, sweet vocal harmony groups, LKJ, early and black ark lee perry keith hudson and so on and so forth...
dub: yeah old dub, especially 70's steppers - such as classic channel one, but also uk dub, from the steppers variety, disciples, mungo's hi-fi, etherealites et al. to mad prof and quirkier sounds...
and the other dub: the trippy shit wirtten by people like scorn, aphasic, timeblind, nasty dubstep and dub written by breakcore artists on a good day... and other stuff like david last, deadbeat and dj/rupture and tangents going on from there
dancehall: particularly early 90's and the recent stuff from the shockout camp, 8FM, shadatek etc
jungle and beyond:Labels and artists such as mashit, big cat, krinjah, krumble, 16aj, sumone, enduser, parasite, scud, aphasic, bong-ra, v.snares, hrvatski and all that jazz
electronica: ...most of my girlfriends record collection... so beautiful
my girlfriend Larissa: got me into so much music; noisy, pretty, strange and wonderful
| | Sounds Like | roots dub has met a messy end inside some kind of faulty printing machine. The machine is kind of rusty and has loads of pulleys and a klapped out fan belt. | | Type of Label | None |

Sound production and DJ trickery of Eliot Palmer, hailing from Christchurch, living in Melbourne.. .
Undertaking a few projects - studying my masters - on leave at the moment. Doing sound design work and researching the effect of low frequency sound on the body, and vibration in performance spaces.... A collection of notes and musings from my research with a vibrating floor can be seen at an old RMIT University page.
Other aspects include a Max/MSP project which aims to emulate the sound of objects resonating and buzzing to bass sounds. (just imagine being in a big old warehouse, heavy dub playing, roof and everything not bolted down rattling - that sound)
I'm still working on the project - slowly.
and as for the DJ stuff...
Foundation Stepper has selected a mix of dubwise, jungle and reggae beats out and about and around Melbourne since 2001. His reggae, dub and downbeat residencies and support slots include venues as Black Cat, Evelyn, Espy, First Floor, Prince of Wales and Hi-Fi Bar; as well as gigs with The Red Eyes, Chant Down, Ruffneck Souljahs , Livewire and Dialekt.
He has also played gigs in NZ and Japan, appearing at Disco Beans, Osaka as well as some other venue where the reggae heads were quite confused by what he was playing.
Foundation Steppers jungle sets are a polyrhythmic mash-up of new school ragga sounds, toxic dancehall and concrete jungle with smatterings of breakcore, heavyweight U.K. dub and eleven secret herbs and spices.
Foundation Stepper is Dr Jeckyl to the Sock Monster, who presents the sillier end of this music spectrum with greater emphasis on breakcore and head crushing dub sounds.
Sock Monster and Foundation Stepper mixes have featured on the site of the legendary Mashit jungle label.
