Ross Palmer - vocals, guitar; Giles Tofield - bass; Eleanor Jones - piano, organ, violin; Rob Mells - drums. Former members include: Iain White, Enrico Borra, Chris Martin, Dan Keeble, Chris Davison and Dan Voyce.
The Fourth Wall was formed in the summer of 2006 when singer-songwriter Ross Palmer asked the guys from much-loved Southend band Gardenia Sky if they'd like to back him for a one-off gig. When Rico, GSky's drummer, announced he was moving to Finland, Rob Mells and Iain White were left at a loose end. They decided to make their band with Ross a full-time concern, with Rob switching from guitar to drums and Iain holding down the bass.
Early in 2007, Iain left the band and a few months later was replaced by Dan Keeble, who'd sung and played guitar in a band called Mesh many years before, which featured Ross on bass. In October 2007, they recorded at Shack Studio. In November 2007, Eleanor Jones joined the band on piano and organ.
Dan Keeble left the band in November 2008 and Dan Voyce joined on bass until May 2009. Dan Mk II was replaced by Giles Tofield, on loan from Carterhaugh, who played on the most recent batch of recordings.
In 27th November 2009, due to the changing personal circumstances of the band members, the Fourth Wall played their last gig, with Dan McKean guesting on lead guitar. It was a good one, a nice way to go out.
Havind recorded twelve songs with Grant Matthews at the Shack, they're planning to release an album (digitally and with a limited run of CDs) to commemorate their three years as a band. Check back for more information on that!
In the meantime, Ross and Eleanor will still be playing together as a duo, and Rob is looking to get two new projects off the ground, one as a drummer and one as a guitarist. So look out for more on that, too!
