"Acoustic Pop-Rock with a Feel-Good Vibe and a Funky Flair" .... Based in southern California, FourWayFree was formed in 2001 by Genji, the lead singer and songwriter, and Boody, the drummer. They invited Peter, a cello student at USC, and a few other musicians to turn Genji’s quirky and catchy songs into something special and over the next few years FourWayFree somehow survived the various pitfalls and band member losses that destroy fledgling bands. In 2005 they released “Trees To Climb On”, a compilation of live tracks and studio recordings, four of which were produced by Don Gehman (John Mellencamp, Tracy Chapman, Hootie & The Blowfish). Joined by Jeff on electric guitar for their first national tour in ’05 and Cameron on bass in '08, FourWayFree is currently promoting their brand new self-produced second album titled “Deeper”, often joined onstage by Peter who now performs with the Louisville Orchestra in Kentucky, and Genji's cousin Steve Nakano (who lead his own jazz quintet) on horns. .. .. Split between southern and northern California, FourWayFree plays shows often throughout the state when not on tour, most recently at the California State Fair, the House Of Blues in Los Angeles, The Roxy, The Key Club, and even a few times at The Playboy Mansion, as well as an appearance on Sacramento’s morning news show and various radio performances and interviews. The band sells their cds online and essentially out of their tour van as they tirelessly continue to cross the country to hopefully/inevitably sign with a label or catch the ear of the right person willing to give them their next big push forward. .... Hey!
Just wanted to let you know that I think you guys are really talented. Love your song "Mistake"--like so much that I listen to it multiple times--in one sitting..haha. Anyways, I make music videos. If you ever want to do one, let me know! I'm currently in Chicago, but am planning to be out in LA in September.
Peace,
Jessica Machen
