Depuis 2004, les Fous Tziganes emportent l..esprit de l..Europe de l..Est à l..Est du Canada. Né aux Îles-de-la-Madeleine avec la rencontre de Jeff Richard et Annie Vadnais, les Fous Tziganes arrivent avec ces sons orientaux et ces rythmes hypnotiques de la musique des lautari (clan de musiciens tziganes). Ils vous présentent principalement la musique vibrante des fêtes et célébrations des Balkans; des mariages aux funérailles, et aussi des fêtes païennes pour laquelle les lautari tziganes se font presque exclusivement engager. C..est de la musique de danse virtuose, parfois dans sa vitesse inégalée, parfois dans ses pas de rythmes complexes, inégaux, d..origines bulgare et turque. C’est une émotion de pure joie, teintée de « swing tzigane » jazzy. Débit dynamique, plein d..esprit, passionné; tempo furieux qui est occasionnellement suspendu par de tristes chansons épiques comparables au « blues ». En 2005, ils enregistrent un disque, « Fous Tziganes », présentant compositions et traditionnelles d..influence roumaine et prennent la route pour leur première tournée, des Îles-de-la-Madeleine jusqu..à Montréal. Récemment, le groupe s’installe à Moncton, et s’embarquent à partager cette musique excitante à travers les Maritimes.
Since 2004, the Wild Gypsies have brought the spirit of Eastern Europe to Eastern Canada. Formed on the Magdalen Islands with the meeting of Jeff Richard and Annie Vadnais, they share the oriental sounds and hypnotic rhythms of the music of the lautari (clan of gypsy musicians). The Wild Gypsies primarily play vibrant party music from various Balkan celebrations and rites such as weddings, births, and funerals at which the lautari are almost exclusively hired to perform. It’s dance music, virtuosic in sometimes its break-neck tempos, sometimes in its complex rhythms of uneven steps originating from Bulgaria and Turkey. It’s an emotion of pure joy, tinted with a jazzy gypsy swing. It’s a high-spirited, dynamic, fast and furious spectacle which is occasionally broken by sorrowful epic gypsy ballads which could only be compared to the blues. In 2005, the Wild Gypsies recorded their first CD, “Fous Tziganes”, presenting original compositions and traditional songs from Romania. They then took the road in a tour from Magdalen Islands to Montréal. Recently, the group settled in Moncton bringing this exciting music to Atlantic Canada.
