ROCK N ROLL PUNK BLUES FROM LIMERICK CITY, IRELAND
Played with such bands as:
AGAINST ME!, STERIOGRAM, GIVEAMANAKICK, DAVID GERAGHTY, HAM SANDWICH, CONCERTO FOR CONSTANTINE, BOSSK, GANG GREEN, OJOS ROJOS
and many more...
Emerging from what is known as the most dangerous city in Ireland, comes three individuals from different backgrounds, styles and influences, bound together to make a bourbon soaked music collaboration that is gripping and exciting new fans and eardrums across the world, and in the most unusual locations.
Fox Jaw Bounty Hunters from Limerick City, is made up of three gentleman; Ronan Mitchell (vocals/guitar/keyboard),
Morgan Nolan (vocals/guitar/bass) and Shane Serrano (drums/vocals/clarinet). Despite their ages, combined they have
over 20 years experience in the world music scene, churning out music to the masses, from punk rock to traditional Irish.
In late 2006, after years of touring with their past bands, they found themselves together in a practice room, collectively-minded, agreeing that they had exhausted their current projects, and were in fact, going no where.
Undefeated and heavily inspired, they created Fox Jaw Bounty Hunters. A straight up, head bopping rock and roll band
that brings their mongrel bred, quirky, eclectic, energy driven music to a pedestal few have ventured. They don't claim to be the next best thing since sliced bread, but they do claim; "We're doing it our way". With a long and varied list of influences that blend and create songs from chunky deafening riffs to sublime silence.
In 2007 they recorded 8 tracks in the home studio of Owen Lewis (REM, Flogging Molly, Snow Patrol, Paulo Nutini & more) and released their debut self-titled EP on their own label later that year, to tremendous critical acclaim. With instant hit songs like 'Delorian Obsession', 'King Amongst Fools', 'Little Black Marble' & the spine chilling epic that is 'Darker Shade Of Blue' they toured relentlessly, playing headline and support slots across Ireland in some of the best venues with some of the most respected names in the music business from home and overseas such as Steriogram, Bossk,
Giveamanakick, Ojos Rojos, Gang Green, David Geraghty (of BellX1), Concerto For Constantine, The Hitchers, Ham Sandwich & many more. The highlight of the year was when they were asked to open for American veterans Against Me! (voted best punk band by Rolling Stone Magazine) on the only Irish date of their 'New Wave' Album World Tour (voted album of the year by Spin Magazine). FJBH have been invited to play numerous prestigious events and festivals such as The Great Friday Festival, Headlining The Limerick leg of the 2007 JD Set Tour, and their amazing live set for the The Third RTÉ 2FM 2moro Tour receiving an electrifying crowd response. They were also invited as a last minute addition to the 2007 EMM Festival Line up, only to be invited again in 2008 to headline the EMM Festivals 'Talbot' Stage.
Their success has not only been within Ireland. Their songs have been picked up by radio stations across Europe & America, and even featured on a U.S. Student Radio Compilation Release in Boston. In early 2007 FJBH flew over to play a quick headline show in Germany, getting them airplay on Radio Darmstadt. FJBH have also recently found out that one of the biggest bands in Malaysia, personally requested that FJBH songs were played in front of legions of their fans before coming on stage. In late 2008 Fox Jaw Bounty Hunters headed to the sunny state of California for a short yet extremely successful tour. While there, they were personally invited to the legendary KXLU LOS ANGELES, by Matt Strasser, the stations Music Director, to play an hour long live set on air! KXLU 88.9FM is the radio station famous for breaking such bands as Rage Against The Machine and Red Hot Chilli Peppers.
Celebrity fans include Fergal Lawlor of The Cranberries, who personally mailed the band simply to say "I love your
music, I'll definitely be at your next show", and Phil Jones (once drummer for Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, Neil Young, Roy Orbison & many more) approached the band after one of their Californian shows and expressed how much he loved their set and invited them to his own gig the following week, personally putting FJBH on the guest list.
After a relatively "quiet" year in 2008 while doing a selected amount of shows across the country and an American Tour,
FJBH spent the majority of their time in the practice room writing songs and perfecting their live show. 2009 will see them
release their second, highly anticipated, 5 track EP entitled 'Congress of Oddities', which will feature songs of a wide
eclectic genre and variety, from stadium-worthy anthems such as 'Walking With The Dead' & 'Care To Play?', to the
morbid circus imagery of 'Col. Cornelius T. Ampersand', sublime acoustic sounds of 'Firefly' and bluegrass country
grunge (and their first radio single due for release in mid 2009), 'Homeward Bound & Gagged'. In support of this, Fox Jaw Bounty Hunters will continue more fearless touring across Ireland, and venture further into mainland Europe.
These are exciting times, as 2009 will also see FJBH demoing and preparing themselves for their Debut Album, to be
recorded in collaboration with various artists and producers both at home in Limerick, as well as abroad in Los Angeles.
