Recorded June 2008 - as a learning session
FREEDOM HERE I COME was written around the name of the band. In this song we used an unusual chord to start the guitar riff. It was difficult to find anything to go with it so the whole song uses only two chords believe it or not ! This did slightly restrict what we could do with the song but we still like the result. Our favourite part is the middle where we let the two guitars drift out of tune with each other and the vocals. When it was released with the songs from September, it was also the first Foxy Freedom song bought by fans from a download site, before any song had even been broadcast on any music show. Wonder how they found us?
Recorded Sept 2008 - the first real session
DANCE TONIGHT FORGET TOMORROW is a dance song. We wanted to keep all the songs as simple as posssible during our Sept recording sessions and this is the kind of song we were aiming for. It was the first Foxy Freedom song to be broadcast on a music show.
LET'S FORGET ABOUT CHRISTMAS is a song about a christmas party but we are not saying whose. The song is unusual because it has five beats instead of four so if you try to dance to it you will probably trip over your feet. We thought it would be fun to try something crazy like this to match the spirit of the song.
I'M GOING TO BE MISSING YOU became a bit more pop than we had intended.
WAITING FOR A SHADOW is probably the best song from Sept. We won't spoil it by telling you what it is about. The most unusual feature of the song is that it does not use rhyme at the ends of the lines except in the middle parts which deal with home.
TIGER TIGER is a darker song with a bit of a bluesy feel. It is also a play on the name of the band as if one of us was chased by a tiger. We like that kind of playing around with the meaning.
Recorded Nov 2008 - advancing the sound
LEAVING YOU. In November we wanted to develop the our sound a little further. We recorded five takes of this song. On each take we improved the song a little. The version here is from take 4 which is the same as the final take 5 except for the vocals.
Christmas 2008 we joined Myspace and after more recording in January 2009 we started using Myspace as our main site at the end of January 2009.
