‘Phantom 48’, (a work in progress) decided to change their name to ‘Dragonphantom’ after recording their 2006 demo. Time was precious and two core members of the band called it a day. The two remaining members, frontman/musician Efrén Valladares and Turntablist DJ Grinder kept the project alive. Keyboardist Rob Sköl Anderson was recruited along with his old band mate, bass player Tom Campbell to complete the band once more.
The demo ‘Death By Technology’ was recorded in 2007, but again, due to other commitments, Dragonphantom lost their bass player. During this time Efrén, by chance had come into contact with Adam Hayward. Adam offered to contribute some vocals to two instrumental demo tracks.
Still virtually unknown, the band caught the attention of independent record label ‘The 7 Black’ mid-2008. Now with a record deal, the band became ‘Fracture’ and began recording their debut LP ‘Kingdom Of Machines’. Adam Hayward, still not an official band member was asked to contribute more vocal work, (and even some programming). The momentum picked up and the chemistry was so good that Adam is now considered to be an official member of Fracture.
Late 2008 and ‘Kingdom Of Machines’ was nearly complete. With such a solid piece of work, Efrén hired Sam ‘DOSEprod’ Hayles to create and design the album artwork, (and related online/promotional materials). Efrén, Adam and Sam in fact know each other through a mutual love for the band Pitchshifter, (DOSEprod have worked with Pitchshifter for over 8 years). The three have had the pleasure of collaborating with each other on various projects including Fracture and Toxikhate, (Sam’s Thrash Metal band).
Now, (mid-2009) ‘Kingdom Of Machines’ is complete. An album of diverse sounds and styles; containing early Industrial soundscapes and programming, bi-lingual vocals, and of course seriously heavy metal. CDs have been produced on a limited run, but thanks to the support of FIXT Records the album is available to all as a digital download, (see links).
With a solid release under their belt, Fracture now hopes to take things to the next level. A new tribute project is in development and a second LP is on the cards. The sound of Fracture is expected to evolve, but trust that it will always be brutal.
