About me: Framework is a group of six artists working in Swansea. Their individual practices have a multidisciplinary approach ranging from live work, participatory work, video and installation, but what is key to their shared practice is the need for community and interaction. The groups launch event in February 2007 Bring Music Bake Bread in Mission Gallery, Swansea invited people to bake bread together in the gallery space whilst listening to favourite pieces of music and resulted in over one hundred people baking bread together over the course of the evening.
The group started by meeting regularly in order to discuss each other's work and ideas and to support each other in the transition from degree to practising artist. With the belief that there was a lack of a sense of community for artists in the area, and that this was a major factor in people leaving the city after graduation, they decided to extend the support they had created for each other by creating a space for artists to meet and socialise and to show work in a supportive environment; Framework Social. Held in an old Social Club since May 2007, artists have been invited to participate in the event in different ways. It has facilitated lively performance work, installation, poetry, book launches, interactive works and one-night residencies from emerging and more established artists alike and continues to build on a sense of community for artists in the area, enabling a sharing of ideas and the forming of new collaborations.
Framework Social is held on the first Tuesday of every month in St.James Social Club, Swansea. If you would like to get involved please contact us frameworkcontact@yahoo.co.uk.
Members are Owen Griffiths, Dan McCabe, Tom O’Sullivan, Fern Thomas, Adele Vye and Paul Woodland.

I've just been reading about you. It is very inspiring what your group is doing - baking bread together. There is a similar effort in Los Angeles, specifically the art school Cal Arts. There is a professor Matias Viegener who brings people together to make jam and talk and have fun. This is a BIG shift, perhaps. A sign of things to come. Yours, Maxi. Much luck to your life shifts, I'm looking forward to your future creative endeavours.
Hey Thom, what do you think of my new ride? retro! I need to get some Audioslave on the stereo for it too, what do you think about me driving down to Swansea in it soon? I dont know when G is gonna be back, or if Claire or Carla will be coming down Would be ace Write back dude
!!!SAVE POLAROID FILM!!! Body: you may not know, but polaroid is ceasing production on all of their film. by the end of next year, it'll be all gone.
they are looking for someone to purchase the rights to make the film, however, which i think has a strong chance of happening since there are about 30 million of us out there that use the film.
so there's a petition now that will hopefully do one of two things:
make polaroid corporate reverse their decision (probably not) or make a smaller specialty company realize there is a market for polaroid film (possible).
but we need signatures. lots of signatures.
help keep this art form alive and prosperous for years to come!
thanks.
