All things Celtic! I especially enjoy William Coulter, Barry and Shelley Phillips, and Kim Robertson. I also like Brazilian jazz by Antonio Carlos Jobim, classical guitar, and old-timey country.
Movies
The Wild Bunch, Once Upon a Time in the West, Ben Hur, Cool Hand Luke, O Brother, Where Art Thou?, Little Big Man
Television
Current favorite show: Life on Mars (of course it got canceled)
I enjoyed "Deadwood" and "Carnivale." And I'm diggin' the "Sharpe's Rifles" movies on Netflix! Where has Sharpe been all my life?
Books
Currently reading:Carter Beats the Devil by Glen David Gold
Last book read:Arouse and Beware by Mackinlay Kantor
I enjoy historical fiction. Some favorites are The Killer Angels by Michael Shaara, Andersonville by MacKinlay Kantor, The March by E.L. Doctorow, the Kent Family Chronicles (and just about everthing else) by John Jakes. I enjoyed Undaunted Courage by Stephen Ambrose, though I still think the definitive biographies of Lewis and Clark are still to be written.

What Reviewers Are Saying about To The Ends of the Earth:
2007 VIOLET CROWN BOOK AWARD WINNER
2007 INDEPENDENT PUBLISHER SILVER MEDALIST
FOREWORD MAGAZINE BOOK OF THE YEAR FINALIST
"First-time novelist Hunter spins an imaginative tale of what might have happened during the last month of Lewis's life that is authentic in detail and shows both the flaws and the virtues of these legends of American history. ...Highly recommended." - Library Journal, September 15, 2006
"Full of gritty historical detail and raw imagery that rings true across the years. To The Ends of The Earth is historical fiction at its best, pulling the reader in and re-engaging the mind and imagination in the drama that occurred 200 years ago." - Midwest Book Review, September 2006
"Frances Hunter tells a thrilling tale ... This book has been endorsed by acclaimed western writer Elmer Kelton and received excellent reviews from many Lewis and Clark historians and writers." - North Dakota Horizons, Fall 2006
"The story is one for readers who love adventure, interesting settings, a little romance, blood and gore, and characters who live life largely ... a page turner until the end." - Historical Novels Review Online, November 2006
"To Liz and Mary Clare, sisters writing under the name of Frances Hunter, bravo and welcome to two bright new stars of Western fiction." - Western Writers of America's Roundup Magazine, December 2006
Frances Hunter is the pen name of two sisters, Elizabeth Clare and Mary Clare, who have put our lifelong love of storytelling to work writing historical fiction. We live in Austin, Texas.
For To the Ends of the Earth: The Last Journey of Lewis & Clark, our first novel, we conducted extensive historical research and traveled the entire route of the journey described in the book, as well as the Lewis and Clark Trail from Montana to the Pacific Coast. The novel was the winner of the Writers' League of Texas manuscript contest. It was published by Blind Rabbit Press in September 2006.
We are presently working on The Fairest Portion of the Globe, the prequel to To the Ends of the Earth, and researching Bloody Island, a historical novel about Robert E. Lee.
Who I'd like to meet: Meriwether Lewis, William Clark, George Rogers Clark, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln, John Adams, George Washington, Patrick Henry, Benjamin Franklin (jeez - all dead white guys)
Anybody interested in creative writing, Lewis and Clark, and historical fiction!
