Okay, I'm sure you get a ton of messages all the time, but I thought I'd offer my story as it relates to your books, the Weetzie Bat Collection
I think I must have first picked up the compilation of them in Dark Angels some time in 2007. It wasn't that your book wasn't completely captivating, but life brought me away from it time and time again and I didn't even finish it until 2009! It is no where near anything I'd 'usually' read, and people never seem to understand it. But that book literally speaks to my soul. There is a part towards the beginning-middle where they talk about wishing on anything and everything, from beetle cars to fireworks. I read that part in the summer of 2007, and memorized the little monologue. I was babysitting on the Fourth of July, and I had the little girl on my lap while we were looking at fireworks. The boy I was madly in love with then was with us, and I repeated the exert from the book and we all took about five minutes to wish. I didn't know how much I believed in it, but seriously every single wish for me came true, and I later found out for the boy it was the same way {surprise! I wished for him, and we've been dating for two years now} After that, I've had many adventures that almost mimic the book. I don't know why, but it's changed my life. Just last week my boyfriend's mom gave me a jacket she had 'alter couture' {where you take plain clothing and make it, well, a piece of art xD} and on the chest there was a dangling skeleton safety pinned on, right next to the word 'Believe'. and I flipped out. Its just not explainable. I have not ever been able to find another copy of Dark Angels in stores, but as soon as I do I'm going to buy another copy, write a letter about my experiences in the inside cover, and leave it on a table in a coffee shop, so that other people can be touched as unexpectedly by your work as I was. :]

i just read "an open letter to quiet light" (literally, i just sat down & read the whole thing tonight) & i really did feel like it was coming from me & describing my last relationship perfectly. i've been reading your books since i was 13 (i'm 23 now..whew) & i feel like whatever your writing about at whatever place you are at in your life always speaks to me and the time i'm at in my life as well. i hope you continue to write until forever so i can always grow, learn & be inspired right along with you. never stop writing. xoxoxo
p.s. i just watched the video up there on wood nymph seeks centaur & fell in love, not only with the idea of the book, but also with you. i want to see more videos. you have the exact kind of personality i always pictured you to have. you are so wonderful.
FINALLY watched Let The Right One In. Thanks for gushing so much about it, otherwise I would have never known about this awesome movie. I absolutely loved it. Pretty Dead and Wood Nymph are on their way to me right now. Can't wait. <3
i was finally able to hunt down, purchase, and devour 'pretty dead'. it was amazing, and i will scour the rest of new mexico to get all your books in my possession :D
First I just want to say, you are my favorite writer, if anyone asks, your name is first out of my mouth. I started reading your books way back in middle school and still love and own all my original copies to this day [Girl Goddess #9 is so worn out!]. If it wasn't for you, I may have never really gotten into writing, and that would be a shame, cause its my one true passion aside from music<3 I'm from New England, but I am moving to California next year to see what adventures life is gonna bring. Maybe if I am lucky, I'll even get to meet my favorite writer<3
