playing music, playing dominoes (and kicking ass!), playing with my dog jesuscita and our new puppy, blossom, playng with my husband slim, playing with my kids jordan and sera, and in general, partying with the big dogs! and taking naps in the afternoon, floating on the river...and of course- jammin' with my peeps!!!!!
Music
i love the music my bands (the KAT'S MEOW and JITTERBUG VIPERS, The SLIM RICHEY QUARTET, and IN THESE SHOES) and i make. some would call it jazz, but i like to think of it as AMERICAN VINTAGE ROOTS. mostly old pop tunes from the 30's, 40's and 50's, such as nat king cole, dinah washington, count basie, duke ellington and the like. i also love BLUEGRASS. i am always looking for other talented and fun people to play with in a part time capacity.
Movies
i like any movie by my favorite directors the coen bros. such as: FARGO, RAISING ARIZONA... other films i never get tired of : THE LAST PICTURE SHOW, LITTLE BIG MAN, BREAKFAST AT TIFANY'S... i really like movies that are kind of bent and really old movies....
Television
the best thing anybody can do for themselves is KILL YOUR TV! i haven't owned one for at least 18 years. don't miss it at all....
Books
i read a lot of stuff... mostly thrillers and crime stuff.
by my friend adira!
my husband slim richey, and anyone who stands up for themselves against government and non-government bullshit! life is too damn short and too damn fun to take that crap. follow your bliss and don't let anybody stop you!
About me: okay. let's see.... i grew up a very quiet child in oak cliff, south of the trinity river in dallas, tx. when i got out of high school, i just said " here i am world, take me!" and it did.... fast forward a little... i took to the 70's like a bird takes to flying, got married, had kids (twins, no less!) and decided that the "white-picket-fence" life was not for me. came back to texas, got divorced, and met slim, and completely changed my life, again. he put a bass in my hands the day after we got married (the second and "official" time), and i knew that this was what i wanted to do FOREVER! i had found my calling, my bliss! fast forward to right now... slim and i have 4 killer bands. one is called the KAT'S MEOW with KAT EDMONSON and LAURA MORDECAI; another one is called JITTERBUG VIPERS, with an assorted and various array of very talented people including KATIE HOLMES, JON DOYLE, THAD SCOTT, PAUL KLEMPERER, MASUMI JONES, SUGAH JAMES GWYNN, and god knows who else might show up to join in the festivities....another one of our bands is IN THESE SHOES, featuring vocalist GAILA KENNEALLY, sometimes SPEEDY GONZALES (grupo fantasma), and BETH GALIGER. we also play with SARAH SHARP, who just won the 2008/2009 Austin Chronicle's Music Award for Best Performing Jazz Band. You can find one of these bands playing anywhere from 4 to 6 nights a week around austin, tx mostly, as well as the DFW area, and are branching out even more as i type this... we've played at several festivals (kerrville, old settler's, jazz on the boulevard in fort worth, jazz alive in san antonio, the corpus christi jazz festival....) and are looking to play at more! check out our band pages while you are here!

Poem 162 of 230, WalkaboutsVerse (please see my blog): TEES TO TYNE: FIRST IMPRESSIONS - SUMMER 2001
Where traditions are not so rare; Sea, country and works scent the air; A multitude of monuments, Planted tubs and patterned pavements.
The longish pedestrian malls; The remnants of defensive walls; Historic buildings are a gauge Of the respect for heritage.
Wheat, rape and pines in the fields; Estuaries guarded by shields; Long sandy beaches and wide scenes; Romantic-ruin go-betweens.
Rivers in parts licked by trees, Or fringed by boat clubs, wharfs, gantries, And crossed by practical delights - Varied spans, forming pleasing sights.
Fine churches headed at Durham; Football kits ad infinitum; Kept castles - one for study; Masonry behind masonry.
And, with moulding-works out that way, It’s somewhere for a longer stay..?
What's up!? Just wanted to let you know what was going on with P6! Our 9th anniversary show is this Halloween! We will be playing with Bulletboys (Smooth Up in Ya back from the 80's!), Bionic Jive (AZ's resident old-school rap/rock soldiers!) and more at The Platinum Club inside Skye.

Sorry we missed your celebration! Know it rocked as you do!
Francie!!! I LOVE YOU. It's YOUR birthday! I wish I could come. Doggone it, i'll try to get there next year and that's a promise. Have a fantastic birthday celebration, even if you do take a quick detour to open for Asleep At The Wheel. Happy birthday, darling.
Happy Birthday, Slim. I love you, Maestro. I thought seriously about coming to Austin to celebrate with you, but then reality set in and I can't get away. Have a great party. I'll be there in spirit, though, celebrating you from New Orleans. Give Francie a big squeeze for me.

Poem 2 of 230, WalkaboutsVerse (please see my blog): WALKABOUT WITH MY PEN
Once drove an old sedan, up north, From a place in Sydney to Cairns; Then to Kuranda I went forth, By train, to look without set plans.
I browsed through the trendy market, With fresh fruits of tropical kind; Walked to the creek through lush thicket - Nature’s hand giving peace of mind.
I dined in a scenic cafe; Then, outside, as I wrote for yen, Some passing Kooris called-out: “Hey, You go walkabout with your pen.”
Request or question, I don’t know - Assured voices, elderly men. That’s now several years ago, And I’ve seen the world - with my pen.
