Influences
As a teenager with a dream of one day becoming one of the guys, I leaned heavily on Jeff Beck's Yardbirds days and his first couple of solo albums, but John McLaughlin, Carlos Santana, Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, BB King and countless other greats were also huge influences on me... Of course, the Beatles from the very beginning ("Ain't she sweet" with Tony Sheridan), Hank Marvin, Marvin Gaye, John Mayall, Peter Green, Al Green, the Pretty Things, Bowie, Ian Hunter, Split Enz, Neil Finn, Peter Hammill, Gong, Rachmaninov, Albeniz, Frank Zappa, Harvey Mandell, Miles Davis, Duane Allman, Barry Richman, Jan Akkerman (Focus), The Who, Richard Thompson, The Fixx, Tears For Fears, Steve Howe, Joni Mitchell, countless artists on MySpace and elsewhere who keep on pushing the limits, Arabic music, Mongolian music, you name it... Also: birds, the rain on the metal roof, the rustle of the leaves in the breeze, children laughing, a sudden noise in the night, a train in the distance, silence...
Sounds Like
That's one I can't answer objectively; hopefully: music....

I was born in Nancy, France on Nov. 7, 1954. I picked up the guitar when I was about 13 and pretty much started playing in bands from that point on. I also played the flute and enrolled in the French conservatory to study upright bass. But my love was always for the guitar, especially the electric guitar. So, when the time came, I moved to Britain to get closer to the Rock scene. London was it for me, the music was great, the audience was extremely responsive and appreciative, I had finally found home.
My move to the States is too complicated to explain, suffice to say that it was not necessarily the easiest choice I ever made, at least from that time's perspective. Four years in New York City pretty much did it for me. Sure, I made great friends and played with tons of people, but my heart was not into the NYC vibe. Times were ripe for an emergency exit.
It was either the West Coast or back to the UK, but since I was already in the country, California was a no-brainer. I moved to San Francisco in 1982 and lived there for 10 years before coming up north. For the 1st time in what appeared to be a long time, I started feeling that I was back on track, as if someone had adjusted the lens on the camera and all of a sudden, everything was back in focus. I played a lot of music in San Francisco, it was a blast!
Why the country? Well, everyone has his or her own ups and downs, burn outs and heartaches, disillusions and doubts... When the time comes for one to regroup forces, the wilderness is the place; and who knew there would be wild men and women playing Rock & Roll in the middle of the woods?
Also, I will try my absolute best to listen to everyone's tracks, read bios & watch videos, but time is of the essence and it may take a while before I get back to you. And for what it's worth; I have had in the distant past brief encounters with some famous people, but being who I am, I never thought of having pictures taken... Here's a few names: Jeff Beck, Ian Hunter, Mickey Rooney, Greg Allman, some of the E Street Band, Carlos Santana, Badfinger, the least visible member of Spinal Tap (keys) who used to come to my house, guys from the Dead Kennedys, guys from Uriah Heep, etc... I guess when you play the big city clubs, you end up around all kinds of great people....
Keep on rocking!
..
Hey Francis, sorry for your loss. The magic of music will always be wherever you are, wherever your friends are---living or dead---and it's always up to us to make of it whatever we can. We carry it with us always, like our story...no one can take it away, and living in a place bereft of music doesn't change that. The musical collective exists everywhere...sometimes I feel so connected to it, even here in the middle of nowhere, it's like every musician who has ever lived is here. And I guess they are, really. And yes, we have snow on the crest---have for some time, but it got a little refresher a few days back. Hoping for a heavy winter!

Thanks for the comment Francis I really appreciate it. Did make another trip to see Mike and returned late Tuesday, his health continues to go down hill, for the past 4 days I have been down with a bad back and stomach flu, but am making a come back.
Glad to hear Your Friend is doing better, as we both know the pain associated with having a Loved one ill.
I am hopeful of returning to Denver again in December to see Mike, one never knows when he will be called home, so I am thankful to spend the time I can with Mike. I talk with him daily and sometimes twice.
Just keep up the good work with your music and know that it gives me comfort. I talked with Ulli today and she had been going through some tough times also, and she told me that she Love listening to your music to help her also, so there are the two of us, who believe in your and your music Francis.
Hope that You have a beautiful week ahead filled with Peace, Music, & Love.
Ha merde, c'est la honte !!! J'avais pas entendu le nouveau titre.... Sorry.
Cheers my friend...
the french market is so poor my dear Francis... what do we know , as you said...nothing but for sure, France is not the place to be! will I gonna move? not excluded...you did it years ago! Love to you and Lisa, bro Eric
Bonsoir Francis. Bises Virginie
My dearest Francis .... YOU and YOUR MUSIC made me able doing this week ... you support me so much with your honest friendship and music ... you have no idea ... i sit in the bus and wanted to run away... but i started listening to your music and i could stay ... i felt so safe and loved ... you have no idea how much you have helped me... i am no supporter YOU are a supporter ... you and LISA .... you are sooo positive and honestly and real ...i love you both sooooooooooooooo much and THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart.... your ulli
