On the eve of Friday 6th of June, all the kids will be descending upon The Zoo like a mix bag of Allen's original lollies at Night Owl on Brunswick St (which until Saturday I thought was 7/11, ding dong). The helm of the indie epicentre will become a throbbing mass of bands and vintage lovers. The Whip (uk), Cassette Kids (has anyone seen what a miiiiiinx Katrina is!?!) and the ratbag Goldie kids from Panther DLX will be taking centre stage to bring to you an evening of indie fantasia. THE WHIP (uk) are hailed as zeeeee only cross-genre outfit nailing indie dance at the moment with a massive cult following - and I know you all want to see Divebomb and Trash performed live.
The Vintage Lover kids are getting geared up for the launch. We are shooting in picturesque Byron Bay at the abandoned meatworks, a paradox of locations, on Saturday 31st of May. A kaleidoscope of colour and denim and fur and taffeta and pretty and tough - this shoot will no doubt inspire you to buy real vintage sourced fluently for you by Vintage Lover. Some hints include an original denim 80s Lee high waisted mini skirt, a bright neon white parachute bomber for the boys, an 80s black jumpsuit with an amazon-esque Dalai Lama inspired golden tiger print and a 60s hot fuchsia pink, black and white bold mod mini dress – I’m thinking Edie Sedgwick would stab drugs in her bum for that one. Hot hot hot.
