About the Poet The Chairman of Spoken Words known as THE CHAIRMAN, just released his debut CD ' Social Ills' (SI). The Chairman is an author, advocate, an activist, a community leader, motivational speaker, educator, mentor, sponsor, guide, as well as a Spoken Words Artist. He is currently working on his Ph.D. in Criminal Justice. The Chairman of Spoken Words has performed from the Bay Area to Chicago such as The Java House, The Poetic Groove, Hollar Back, Linen Life, Anna's Jazz Island, Jefferies Inner Circle, Listen & Be Heard, Mouth Off Wednesday's and Dalva's to The Green Mill in Chicago. He opened for R&B Singer Lolita Sweet at The Rockit Room in SF & Yoshi's & Arroyo Park in Oakland, performed at the Juneteenth Festival in San Francisco in 07 and will again June 20, 2009. He performed at the Love Jones in Oakland, and at colleges, universities, parks and community events. He's been on various radio stations and online radio broadcasts such as KPOO, KGO radio, 104.1 fm, the Village Connect & the Remix on Blog talk radio and others. The Social Ills project (SI) showcases Bay Area talented Spoken Words Artists, Rappers and R&B Singers. Social Ills presents the sounds of R&B, Hip Hop and Jazz; produced by PlayaRighteous Folks Entertainment (D. Thompson) and SoulCaine (A.M. Johnson) from Richmond and Vallejo Ca. The SI project took 2 ½ years to complete. Artists appearing are Spoken Words Artists: Roxanne Hanna-Ware, James L. Martin, President L. Davis, Shawn 'NerCity' Gallant, and Khari! Featuring R/B Singers: Lolita Sweet, Ben Petry, Eisha Coutee and J. Myers! Rappers appearing are: PlayaRighteous and Young Chosen! Social Ills have hit songs titled: I Love Poets which is the Poets National Anthem with various artists collaborating to address social ills with positive change. Soulger Story featuring R/B singer Lolita Sweet- is the story of a soldier that is fighting in the war and is determined to return home to his woman. Superman with Tania Williams and Tiffany Lindsey- is a Fatherhood song, sending the message of being a proud determined father staying in the life of his daughter. She Wanted More featuring R/B Singer/Musician Ben Petry- is a sexy tune about a man and woman that have chemistry, and although sex is the play-the message is about commitment! Ups & Downs featuring R/B Singer and Writer J. Myers- is a little script from my life story. Street Life is a traditional piece addressing violence and the Remix takes it to another level featuring NerCity, PlayaRighteous & Young Chosen! I Was Given a Name is a powerful piece addressing historical cultural relevance and respect! The Nature of Us featuring Roxanne Hanna-Ware is about strong innate abilities from a cultural standpoint! My Body Too Heavy 2 Hang from a Tree is my spoken words signature piece about leadership, an addition on this cd by popular demand! About the Poet The Chairman of Spoken Words known as THE CHAIRMAN, just released his debut CD ' Social Ills' (SI).
