In a nutshell, my name is Frank. I'm 23, from somewhere near Cambridge but living in London. I write songs and play them, sometimes on my own but usually with my band. I like cats, peppermint tea, people watching and diagnosis murder.... I dislike spiders immensely...
If you're not into myspace you can follow me on facebook, or listen to me rant on twitter
XFM playlisted and Christmas rotw 2007, Radio 1 supported, Steve Lamacq endorsed, BBC favourite, Frank Hamilton is a very modern artist, building the old fashioned way.
Constantly gigging, always writing, Frank has forged a loyal following through Myspace technology and simply turning up to entertain music fans up and down the country.
His first EP has been recorded with proceeds from the gigs and sold just shy of 1000 copies in the first 10 days of it's release. Frank even made a limited edition live DVD, inviting 20 of his biggest fans to a gig in an Earls Court basement, filming it himself and releasing it for kicks. There’s only 99 in existence, all hand pressed, numbered and signed, so fans should hurry.
The first single from the EP, Waking Up @ 3, showcases the unique charm of the 22 year old with an uncanny knack of summing up the human condition of those of us struggling with celebrity saturation and regular hangovers. A bedroom Bob Dylan, a 21st Century Ray Davies with the bite of Billy Bragg, Frank has his very own Kirsty MacColl in harmonic partner Helen Ruocco.
“In truth I’ve barely made it out of bed, because you never text me back and it messes with my head.”
Waking Up @ 3 is joined by five more gems on the EP, all sticking to a Frank philosophy - keep it simple, capture the passion, lose the flowery language.
“Because,” as Frank puts it, “it’s not rocket science - it’s just you and me.”
After you've finished here, you may like to hear this poem sung on myspace...
Poem 162 of 230, WalkaboutsVerse (please see my blog): TEES TO TYNE: FIRST IMPRESSIONS - SUMMER 2001
Where traditions are not so rare; Sea, country and works scent the air; A multitude of monuments, Planted tubs and patterned pavements.
The longish pedestrian malls; The remnants of defensive walls; Historic buildings are a gauge Of the respect for heritage.
Wheat, rape and pines in the fields; Estuaries guarded by shields; Long sandy beaches and wide scenes; Romantic-ruin go-betweens.
Rivers in parts licked by trees, Or fringed by boat clubs, wharfs, gantries, And crossed by practical delights - Varied spans, forming pleasing sights.
Fine churches headed at Durham; Football kits ad infinitum; Kept castles - one for study; Masonry behind masonry.
And, with moulding-works out that way, It’s somewhere for a longer stay..?
Hey thanks for accepting! Your voices go so well together it's insane! I love the simplicity of your music, I think it's great! Thanks again and keep it coming! xxx
