For latest CD Tempus Incognitum: Martin Pickett - Piano, organ, accordian and trombone. Paul Jeffries - basses. Tim Wilson - soprano sax. Frank Hockney - tunes, arrangements, drums, percussion.
Influences
A huge amount! To pick a few in no particular order:
Frank Zappa, King Crimson, Bill Bruford, Magma, Gentle Giant, Tony Williams, John Bonham, Christian Vander, Nigel Morris, John Adams, Phillip Glass, Steve Reich, Wagner, Mahler, Led Zeppelin, The Ruts, The Residents, EST, Tom Cawley, Arvo Part, XTC, Norman Mailer, Gore Vidal.
Sounds Like
Being influenced by so many styles of music has produced a curious mix.
I guess the trio recording are more EST/ Alexi Tourmarila than mainstream.
Others have some links with Weather Report and Frank Zappa. And then there’s the Bulgarian Songo!

Been playing drums for as long as I care to remember.
Recorded (vinyl) albums with Red in 1980, The Shiny Men in 1981, and Fractals in 1985ish. There is talk of the Shiny Men (guest vocalist Robert Wyatt) album being re-released on CD but, as far as I'm aware, this has not yet happened.
Then followed a lengthy spell away from drums while the guitar took over.
Almost by accident got back into drumming on a dep gig and still doing it.
I was lucky enough to meet Martin Pickett whilst guitar playing and I got back into recording work with Martin's MP5 cd which was independantly released. Then followed Martin's ' I'll Be With You Again' CD released on Slam records.
Worked with actor/singer/songwriter Doug Hodge and recorded his first CD 'Cowley Road Songs' released on Rightback Records. A follow up CD is on it's way.
Recently completed the recording of the new CD by Tim Wilson Quartet called Soon It Will Be Today which is available from timwilsonmusic.co.uk. Current drumming work includes Life and Soul, an excellent party band, Blake's Heaven, a modern Big Band playing Nick Blake arrangements, Radio Days, another Big Band but playing a more standard repertiore and The Canape Trio which is nicely arranged jazz standards.
So to my own CD: I've been working on compositions and arrangements for a while now and with Martin Pickett, Paul Jeffries and Tim Wilson on board, felt confident enough to record them. The recording and mixing is now completed and the CD will soon be available via my new website. The tracks here are Speak Low and Hagen's Mother from the NOW AVAILABLE CD Tempus Incognitum, Footprints from Tim Wilson Quartet new CD and some previous recordings.
