Band MembersFor latest CD Tempus Incognitum: Martin Pickett - Piano, organ, accordian and trombone. Paul Jeffries - basses. Tim Wilson - soprano sax. Frank Hockney - tunes, arrangements, drums, percussion.
InfluencesA huge amount! To pick a few in no particular order: Frank Zappa, King Crimson, Bill Bruford, Magma, Gentle Giant, Tony Williams, John Bonham, Christian Vander, Nigel Morris, John Adams, Phillip Glass, Steve Reich, Wagner, Mahler, Led Zeppelin, The Ruts, The Residents, EST, Tom Cawley, Arvo Part, XTC, Norman Mailer, Gore Vidal.
Sounds LikeBeing influenced by so many styles of music has produced a curious mix. I guess the trio recording are more EST/ Alexi Tourmarila than mainstream. Others have some links with Weather Report and Frank Zappa. And then there’s the Bulgarian Songo!

   About Frank Hockney
***TEMPUS INCOGNITUM CD NOW AVAILABLE: PLEASE CONTACT ME VIA MYSPACE OR VIA MY WEBSITE. THANKS*** Been playing drums for as long as I care to remember. Recorded (vinyl) albums with Red in 1980, The Shiny Men in 1981, and Fractals in 1985ish. There is talk of the Shiny Men (guest vocalist Robert Wyatt) album being re-released on CD but, as far as I'm aware, this has not yet happened. Then followed a lengthy spell away from drums while the guitar took over. Almost by accident got back into drumming on a dep gig and still doing it. I was lucky enough to meet Martin Pickett whilst guitar playing and I got back into recording work with Martin's MP5 cd which was independantly released. Then followed Martin's ' I'll Be With You Again' CD released on Slam records. Worked with actor/singer/songwriter Doug Hodge and recorded his first CD 'Cowley Road Songs' released on Rightback Records. A follow up CD is on it's way. Recently completed the recording of the new CD by Tim Wilson Quartet called Soon It Will Be Today which is available from timwilsonmusic.co.uk. Current drumming work includes Life and Soul, an excellent party band, Blake's Heaven, a modern Big Band playing Nick Blake arrangements, Radio Days, another Big Band but playing a more standard repertiore and The Canape Trio which is nicely arranged jazz standards. New band projects are The Trish Elphinstone Quintet and the Rory McInroy Trio. Also I've just finished recording a CD with the very talented Theo Jackson on vocals and Rhodes and the multi-instrumentalist jason walsh. Guest appearances from Brandon Allen and Quentin Collins. It's very fine music! So to my own CD: I've been working on compositions and arrangements for a while now and with Martin Pickett, Paul Jeffries and Tim Wilson on board, felt confident enough to record them. The recording and mixing is now completed and the CD will soon be available via my new website. The tracks here are Rena and Frog Sat on the Sofa and Speak Low from the NOW AVAILABLE CD Tempus Incognitum, Footprints from Tim Wilson Quartet new CD and some previous recordings including a live version of Blake's Heaven playing Waltzing Matilda!

Well..who know when I will be over to England...but I really looking forward to when/if it happen..cause I really want to visit your country as a tourist..or as a musician/tourist....
But.ill let you know....
And if you ever are up here at my place..let me know...so why take a tour to North of Norway...cold, snow, polar bears...well..we got the midnight sun...jazz round midnight..and you still can see all the Jazzchicks dancing at the beach..
What more...fresh air....good jazz salmon...and fresh water...and who believed 20 years ago that water would be a problem in 2008....what have we been fighting for in this world till now...land..religion....oil...gold bars...and the next war will be about....yes..your right...water...
