Music
Guitar based music through Rock, Reggae, Dance and Funk to shameless pop!!; Hendrix, The Kinks, Bill Nelson, Marley, John Lee Hooker, Pete Townsend, Santana, Weller, Joni Mitchell, Motorhead, Ocean Colour Scene, Earth Wind and Fire, The Buzzcocks, Dr. Feelgood & Wilko Johnson, Gary Moore, Steel Pulse, Chic, Keane, Kaiser Chiefs, Orson, Arctic Monkeys
Movies
Thought provoking productions from any era, so much the better if they're British Films.
Television
Some soaps (sorry!), investigative reporting & music stuff. I love to passionately hate 'Big Brother' and that despicable 'smart-alec' Jeremy Kyle!
Books
Don't read often enough but recently Tom Sharpe, James Joyce, Paulo Coelho, David Pelzer, Nelson Mandela, Truman Capote,
Heroes
Martin Luther King, Nelson Mandela and my parents...not necessarily in that order.
About me: I have played guitar in various bands in the Hull area for the past %$^%years and always liked my music 'live'. see......
http://www.punk77.co.uk/groups/revolt_strangeways.htm......
Recently as my more 'grown up' band activities have reduced, I've taken to the local open mic night circuit and been blown away by the high quality of Hull's unsigned, unassuming, un 'other stuff' talent.
I decided to start my own open mic night at The Blue Bell Inn, Cottingham 3 miles North West of Hull city centre.
Manager Andy provides a great venue and hospitality and is seriously pro music.
Andy welcomes acoustic musicians who choose to simply turn up and busk in the bar (function bookings permitting)
'FACE THE MUSIC'@ THE BLUE BELL is EVERY OTHER WEDNESDAY. THE HULL DAILY MAIL publishes DATES & DETAILS OF GUESTS in the 'WHAT'S ON LISTINGS'
Check the night out and enjoy some really accomplished musicians in a pleasant atmosphere with my commitment to provide a really good stage sound.
Who I'd like to meet: More musicians who are looking for an outlet.
-Singers, songwriters, instrumentalists, cover versionists... or any combination of the four.
Blues, Folk, Rock, Jazz, Funk, Indie, World etc etc etc
Cheers for giving us a go the other night....it was really busy early on!! Is it ok to bring along one of my students on the 25th NOV to play 2 or 3 songs? Grace Charlotte is a solo player has a great voice I think - but she's never played live before.
Thanx a lot for the friendship! Keep up the good work! And let your soul be your pilot - today, tommorow, always! From Russia with love... MAX DMITRIEFF, singer & songwriter www.myspace.com/KatherinesFavorites

Forgive the indulgence but I've just worked out how to do this so i'm gonna put it in here - its a video of us playing one of the songs we would send to you live @ Bull and Gate last month just to show you what it may be like, hope thats ok :)
Our next gig isnt for a while but will probably be at Metro on Tottenhem Court Road - (so not really that close to you if I'm being honest ha ha :), but who knows - you may be on holiday, or finding out what its like to visit somewhere with 10 million people in about a square mile :)
