I work as a guitarist and piper (scottish smallpipes) on the traditional music scene in the UK and have been lucky enough to work with some great players and singers over the years. As well as performing with The Mick West Band and the fantastic fiddle player Stewart Hardy from Northumberland, I work as a session player and teacher and have worked on numerous recording projects including ”The complete songs of Robert Burns” (Linn Records), and “The Complete Songs of Robert Tannahill” . I also peform with the fab traditional singer Gillian MacDonald.
Stewart and I have recently finished an accoustic album of instrumentals for fiddle/guitar and smallpipes - root2 -, to be released spring 2009.
We also work together as a writing and produiction team. The track above "Flake" is a sample from our latest batch of work:- "Compass", 13 tracks to be released as a cd in later in 2009.
I run regular workshops for guitar across the UK, covering techniques used in playing traditional music and accompaniment for song.
