We sound like our influences....at least we try to. Just take a listen and judge for yourself.
Skalami is the brain child of lead singer Adam Bruno. In September of 1998, Adam started searching for the best musicians Moscow, Idaho had to offer, but when he couldn't find the best he settled for bari-sax player Seth Stuckey, trumperter Brian Prescott, tromboner Mike Ayer, guitarist Jeremey Craft, bassist Erik Snodgrass, and drummer Ed Littlefield. By October of that same year Skalami had their first show, opening for Coeur d'Alene, Idaho based ska band, No Bare Feet.
Over the years Skalami went through some personnell changes as many small bands do throughout their careers. The changes came in the form of bari-sax player Ryan Lovchik and guitarist Jimmie Denny. Then later added keyboardist Josh Forke (also played trombone), and replaced Jimmie with Pat Perringer on guitar (Jimmie went back to playing trombone).
Skalami played hundreds of gigs from 1998-2001 mostly around the North Idaho/Eastern Washington area, but got as far out as playing/recording in Seattle, WA and playing the Ernie Ball Battle of the Bands stage at the Vans Warped tour 2001 in Boise, ID.
After a seven year break, Skalami is back in action laying down its upbeat, energetic, quirky, and sometimes insane brand of third wave ska! The band has some new members and a bunch of new energy which should equate to the best formation of Skalami ever! Yeah we're all older, but that just means we can hold our liquor better. See ya on the dance floor, rudies!
For those who haven't heard, we'll be in the studio these next few months to record a new album with the renowned reggae singer, Eyon Irie. After that it's summer shows and writing songs for the next Orbits album!
In the meantime, if you don't have our self-titled cd yet, you can still pick it up on CD Baby and Itunes.
