About me: Hi! I'm Frank Thurston. I come from a long Magical Line! The THURSTON Name has long been synonymous with MAGIC, and having grown-up in a Magical Family, it has always been a major part of my life! I started my professional career as a Magician at the age of 18. At the age of 20 I was awarded the 1986 Pacific Coast Association of Magicians (PCAM) Award by my peers, for Best Stage Performance. That same year I was also awarded a Special PCAM Award for Outstanding Showmanship and Presentation. I have performed in Las Vegas at the Riviera Hotel & Casino, at the Society of American Magicians Convention and at the Orleans Hotel & Casino at the World Magic Seminar. I've performed at the Flamingo Hilton in both Reno & Laughlin, Nevada and have even become a "PERFORMING MEMBER" of the prestigious HOLLYWOOD MAGIC CASTLE.
I have performed thousands upon thousands of shows bringing smiles, mystery and laughter to countless numbers of audience members all over my home State of California and throughout the Western United States, at many County Fairs, Corporate Events, School Assemblies, Trade Shows, etc... I have also lent my Magical Expertise as a Magic Consultant for many commercials, plays and various productions. For the last 13 years, I have been the "House Magician" for the Popular RED ROBIN Restaurant. I was the co-host of the very popular TV show, "Mr. Movie's Movies" which aired on the CBS affiliate station, KERO-TV Channel 23 in Bakersfield for close to 7 years! Myself and my Magic were Featured Nationwide and seen by millions on the ABC NEWS Television Show, "NIGHTLINE" with Ted Koppel and most recently, I was seen on the Series "DINNER:IMPOSSIBLE" with Celebrity Chef Robert Irvine on the FOOD Network!
Having a strong background in both music & drama, including a major in Theatrical Arts at California State University Bakersfield, I have specialized in Dramatic Large Stage Illusions; however it is my forte, "FAMILY COMEDY MAGIC" where I really shine! Known as the "MAGICIAN of FAMILY FUN" my Magical Programs are Interactive, Fun-Filled and Laughter-Packed! I Entertain as well as Mystify! I am also an Expert Balloon-Artist, authoring two seperate books for Magicians and Clowns that have sold all over the United States and Canada. I have even lectured on Balloon Animals to my peers, at various Magic & Clown Conventions, including the World-Famous Hollywood Magic Castle. It is with great pride that I am also considered by many to be one of the Finest Children's Entertainers working today!
I am a member of the Academy of Magical Arts, Inc., a twice Past-President of the Bakersfield Magic Circle Assembly #69, a member of the Society of American Magicians, a Performing Member of the Hollywood Magic Castle, a member of the International Brotherhood of Magicians, the Pacific Coast Association of Magicians, the International Association of Family Entertainment Professionals, the International Magicians Society and the Western Fairs Association.
