    Frank's Interests
GeneralMy legal (just kidding) interests include, reading, writing, just meditating on various deep-ass things while in repose, fishing, watching movies (I'm an ameteur movie buff) music (listening, I have no musical talent other than an Eminem-like undiscovered passion for free-flowing about the Insane Clown Posse) camping and hiking (weather permitting, I'm not some snow-cave carving psycho or nothin) occasional climbing, subverting our shared, core values and putting things in parentheses. I'm also something of a conneseur (sp?) of 17th century baroque and (to a lesser degree) rococco Dutch furnishings. No I'm not.
MusicThis type of thing always kills me because tastes change and I like a lot. But bands I like include Pink Floyd, Radiohead, Beck, The Rolling Stones, Milo Duke, The Beatles of course, Heroes and Villains, Levi Cecil's early solo stuff, not as much anymore, Notorious BIG, Wu-Tang (I like East-Side, being raised in Bed-Stuy, no I wasn't) Centromatic, White Stripes, Spoon, Pearl Jam, Nirvana. Ween. I don't know, I like many musics.
MoviesThis one might be even harder than music. Favorite movies: Unforgiven, Silence of the Lambs, Big Trouble in Little China, Chinatown, The Deer Hunter, Dead Man, Network, Altered States (just because how many movies have a guy turning into a monkey after eating tons of shrooms?) True Stories (the David Byrne, Talking Heads show), The Last Waltz. Any movie where well meaning caucasians move to the inner-city and inspire the youth therein with some idiosyncratic pet passion. I think I'll make one where I clean up a tough Harlem school with a gruff, tough-love mixture of firm discipline and either curling or fly fishing, or Polo. Hitchcock movies I've been getting into quite a biznit, Jacob's Ladder is one of the cool, scariest movies ever, Candyman (I just like it), Closer is intense, Shane, The Shootist, Kagemusha, Alien, Repo Man, Blue Velvet, Wild at Heart, (Harry Dean Stanton is becoming maybe my favorite actor), Miller's Crossing is possibly my favorite Coen bro's show, but they're all pretty good, Crimewave- not too good, Young Frank-enstein, Ed Wood, the few Cassavettes movies I've seen rule, Straw Dogs, Starship Troopers- a guilty pleasure that may be too secretly smart to be a guilty pleasure at all, Fritz Lang's "M", anything with Adam Sandler... is usually shit, (there are some exceptions, like Punch Drunk Lizove,) Fear of a Black Hat is underrated, Christopher Guest movies are good, Seven Samurai, Blade Runner, The Limey, O Lucky Man-dark and good, Brain Candy, Clint Eastwood movies that he has both starred in and directed usually rule. Just Clint Eastwood, man, that guy is awesome. No doubt. Taxi Driver, Goodfellas, Raging Bull, Gangs of New York, Martin Scorcese can do no wrong, that wierd-ass musical aside, Quentin Tarantino (the director not the actor), The Godfather. Seven, I also dig most Terry Gilliam, The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai- Across the Eighth Dimension, with Peter Weller looking not at all half-Japanese. Lars Von Trier, pretention aside is pretty amazing. The "Paradise Lost" documentaries are killer. Michael Moore documentaries are also good. This is an unpopular opinion, like the Family Guy, but I can't stand The Boondock Saints. Terrible and overrated. The documentary about it, "Overnight" is pretty telling.
TelevisionI know this sounds really hipster, but I don't watch much TV. I'm too poor for cable. But TV shows that rule: The Simpsons, of course, Mr. Show- maybe the funniest thing ever aired, The Office. Another British show that is pretty incredible for it's hilarity and hard-core envelope pushing is Brass Eye by this guy Christopher Morris. A friend sent it to me and if you can find it, hook it up. Tenacious D, all three episodes, I'm getting hooked on the Shield when I can peep it. Futurama is good. If you haven't seen Sifl and Olly you haven't seen shit, cousin, trust me on that. I love Aqua Teen and Sealab, Space Ghost is also good. I like what I've seen of Robot Chicken, but I haven't made up my mind about Wonder Showzen. The Ben Stiller Show is dated but funny. Law and Order is good when I've seen it. This CSI thing is hugely overblown, but it also seems like it has some quality episodes. I don't like the Family Guy, I just don't think it's very funny. Again, upopular opinion, but what the hey.
BooksWhy???? This is tough. My favorite short story is for sure The Dead, by James Joyce. For one, it's just impressive to reference Joyce, but it's also really beautiful and accessible (I suck without a spell-check, the computer has turned my dumb and lazy). For Sci-Fi I'm all about Philip K. Dick (who's last name is hilarious) and William Gibson. That Snowcrash noise is for punks. It's amusing, but still no Neuromancer. I used to like James Clavell a lot. Keats is good. I was really into the Romantics for a while. Noam Chomsky is great. Man, I don't know. I'll come back to this.
HeroesBenjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Paine, David Icke (look him up and tell me he's wrong) Bill Clinton some of the time, Katha Pollitt, Noam Chomsky. My Parents, big time good people. I don't know what to say about them, they're square, straight-shooting G's. Great parents, there it is; I'm unbelievably lucky to have been raised by some harsh, double-cool, super-tight ultra-parents, sho nuf. Siblings are: Eileen the hard-core law student with crazy work ethic and two super-cool little bad-ass kids. She was my mentor growing up, and taught me that life is pain. Actually, she and I are homeboys and have had some awesome times just ripping **it up until she totally got down on some law schooling. Now, she is done and we rip **it up anew. Bill is my unofficial third sister whose life choice I will never judge. He likes Tool (and everything that word entails) vidding it up and paying the down-on-their-luck to defecate in his bed. To each her own I suppose. He and I have been the closest of homeslices since, like, '86. Katie is my super hard-core outlaw little sister who seriously brawled with some cops once. (Katie if you want this "joke" nixed, let me know.) She worked at a tanning place (though no more) and plays guys like chumpers. She studies as hard as she parties, which is a drag when I'm bored, but good for her anyway. My friends including my musical phenom friends Levi Cecil (a double-scoop of permanent nightmare and Chocolate Dick Nookie Ho in a awful cone) he lives in Portland. Milo Duke here in the M-cow (just shreds it up with the ax, then when he's done axing fools who got it coming, he plays some crescent fresh guitar.) Kelly, Milo's woman. her friends are almost entirely lesbains which is indicative of what hot property she is. She got with a harsh, ice-cold bad-mothafucka like Milo and is also multi-desired by all sexes. Nate (Brick Christian is his nom de guerre, he works at the Alley and I refer to him as the "Jolly Green Giant" sometimes for reasons that are none of all y'all's bidness.) Laura, his pow-pow, has a soft-spot for me because she and I were once a hot item. Tay (mutton-chops like a muthafucka, they'd be silly-looking if Tay wasn't... ah...well, never mind.) And Jess (who looks like a super-adorable Mr. Burns. You think it's not possible, but it is, she pulls it off.) They're a couple and a couple of suckas, but basically all right. Jeff Carlson, a history buff with NEARLY more knowledge of mad, crazy ill shits than he has butt-appeal, which is basically off the fucking charts. Ex-roomy and current co-thug. Jeff Dear(to me)-ing, a brother in several ways, the most obvious being our joint bonds of Masonry. And our Mason-like bond of mad joints, yeahhhhh. Nope, not really. We've never used narcotics together, but if we did, I bet it'd be cool. Yeahhhhh. Kyle, who has suggested I pare my long heroes list down to one dude, him. Which should let you know just how tastily forcdeful he can be (more so since I momentarily considered it, but for the presence of all other heroes) whether hanging out with me and partying and doing fun things, or standing in a garage and berating dogs for offenses known only to him and them, while at a party. (I heard a story about that recently.) Tyler "T-Bone on the .22" who is my partner in organized crime here. Our territory ranges from Potlatch to Lewiston and Clarkston (and from San Diego to Portland, Maine). Tyler does the killing while I mostly do the killing. Joani, a multi-harshitty of a live chick who has dated me for years without knowing it. We both discovered this through her Facebook account. It's weird but it works. Also, Joani talks some of the best shit I've ever heard, guy or girl (which of those she is, however, is up for debate. Ohhhhhh! (See, her burn would have been better than that. Cady, my ex-editor who charmingly thinks I'm an Irish gangster. No arguments here. She taught me to use semicolons whenever possible, which is always. She also taught me... oh snaps, none of your business. Forty, my multi-homey who's had my back to party and just be one of my favorite people in the world for pushing a decade now. A best friend, one of a select few. Sean O'Da Bears. He's like a baker's-dozen mini-Ditka spirits stacked together in the body of a regular sized Ditka with refrigerator Perry as arms and "The Fridge" Perry as legs. Dugan, one of the most fun, crazy as a harsh-ass in a good way straight-up wizard of ultra-flavors I know. He's a good-looking guy, too. Hot. And chills as good as he looks. Wray (an OlD-school homeboy. He and I climbed like mugs before I discovered cigarettes, drugs and ladies, although Wray still often managed to out-do me on all of those anyway, except for cigarettes.) Andy. Maybe my oldest friend appearing on this list. He needs to move his ass to Moscow pronto so we can get back to ripping it up like it was 'ninety-fo. Paulie Basinger da Base-Slinga, just a super-cool holmes. One of those friends that everyone has where every time you hang out with him you have a blast and makes you pee on him. You know the kind. He's up in Sea-town now, I miss him greatly, but we communicate telepathically is my theory. Jeralynn is also in Sea-twon. She has a baby now called Francis Jr, he's named after me. She and I battle this one fucked-up entity called "Bob" and have thwarted that fools wicked designs time and time again. Jenny Hathaway, a beautiful, amazing person. Arguably the most talented, ambitious; incredibly sweet, genuine, honest, open, funny, fun, sexy, cool and sexy person I know; besides me and a few others on this list. But she's pushing number one for all those. She's up there. Jerome, a proud, black stallion whose prowess in bed is matched only by his charm, brains and sex-appeal. We've been know to tap at twenty. And let's not forget my most flavorful of homegirls, Jamie Lee Piechoky; or at least she's tied for first with Jenny Hathaway, Kami, Casey and Allison and a couple other ladies; always a joy to lust those presigious honeys (and by that of course I meant "list"). As one the sweetest, wittiest and most fun cats sporting the double X chromosome that I've ever known Jamie deserves top ranking. A couple of my friends have commented on the fact that she's the Superfly, Rocket-Sauce, multi-hyper hottie. While this is certainly true, those of you considering becoming Jame-E friends should avoid making the mistake of underestimating her by seeking her out for her flawless appearence alone. She's one of the rare, proud few who embodies (and what an embodiment, damn) the exception to the rule that beauty is only skin-deep. Casey... Word! my other sexy, blonde mulit-homie besides Piechoky. She and I have discovered the different roles of the hippocampus in our abnormal psych class. We drink hard together, study hard together, and tap even harder than that (but only if we're in a Bathroom!) We've recently taken up bar-dancing. Casey gets more props too for having my back on the tremendousness of raptors, owls in partic. Together we have some much natural animal phere-moan-al chemistry created that we draw creatures to us like this squirrel that came right up to us to hang out the other day. Allison is Foety's girl and one of the only women I know who deserves him; which says A LOT! She has a neurotic dog that has problems, but is sweet. Allison defies description a little bit but she's basically all of the good things one would want in a hippy-friend with none of the annoying. Plus, a hippy who's down to party her ass off in a dope way (not lame or boring sort of swaying-to-Phish way), say hilarious (and occasionally filthy) things that a lesser being would never say and generally be a blast to be around. Sorry anyone I've forgotten but I love you all. Voltaire was a bad-ass, James Joyce because he was just one of the many Irish writers who represented. Adonis, because there' something about him that reminds me of me. Public Enemy. Einstein, genius, pacifist, FDR, JFK, MLK, WEB DuBois, Kami my crazy/fun soul-homey (ex-roomate extraordinaire and was almost certainly my best-friend in Moscow for a while (before then several months after she and I quit totally getting it on). Not to say that she's not now. She's ceratinly a best friend along with a couple of other choice gatos, but now she's all domesticated and shit. Congrats Kami, way to sell out and start settling down. NO! We still rage. Fun to drink with. Woodward and Bernstein for being so hot (they look like a young Redford and Hoffman), Edward R. Murrow (who also looks good, sort of a middle-age David Strathairn). I can't think of any more, but I will probably add some later.

About me:
I'm a student at the University of Idaho. I have three siblings, an older sister, younger brother and younger sister, all of whom also attend(ed) the U of I. I'm a history major, but have been focusing on journalism. Mostly I write leftist opinion columns, but have been writing virtually every genre of journalistic import (serialized alternative-history fiction notwithstanding) for many years. Recently my collegiate journalism career has been bearing some tasty fruits of local recognition; I've won a series of awards in the last few years, which is encouraging. I live in Moscow, Idaho, home to the UI and plan to move to Portland in a year when I finish school (God or whatever permitting) to pursue journalism. I almost got killed by a moose once. I'm a Freemason, but I've been slacking off, so I'm not sure I'm still in good standing, but I'll probably get back into it. Running the world can be taxing. I'm agnostic and Irish. I almost got my ass kicked in London once for being a mick. I got robbed in Amsterdam. I once dove from an exploding helicopter onto a moving train in pursuit of the Compte de St. Germain, my nemesis and gentleman adversary. He escaped, and I was foiled again, but we'll see where the baccarat cards fall in a week when I jet off to exotic Montenegro where the game begins anew. If that doesn't impress the cyber-ladies I don't know what will. I'm not sure what else to say. I'll finish my profile editing and fill in the blanks if necessary. If you get bored reading this, try a little exercise-- count how many time the word "journalism" or some variation appears on this page. (Except for the thing about the "moose"* the rest is true.) *"Moose"= Epic battle with St. Germain. People who know me should feel free to suggest biographical details I have conveniently ommitted (except ex-girlfriends who are a notorious a pack of liars.)
Who I'd like to meet:
Whoever. I'm new to the Myspace, but I look forward to meeting hot cyber e-chicks to flirt with online. That seems like a really fulfilling sort of interaction. Actually, I'm just interested in seeing what this is about and chatting with loads of interesting dudes (I use "dudes" here in a gender neutral, term of general endearment to future cyber friends, so hot online e-cyber hotties should not feal that this is even an unconcious mysoginistic or patriarchal identifier). It would also be nice to hook up with old friends who have gotten in on the Myspace. Anyhow, say hello, or I'll be disappointed.

I have been organizing theis event for months and will be performing at it. I hope to see you there.

Express Yourself Festival
September 27th 3:00-8:00 PM
East City Park
Free

Like a color in a kaleidoscope, come be a part of the Express Yourself Festival at the Moscow East City Park on September 27th. The Express Yourself Festival is free to the public and is designed as an opportunity for people from the campus and community to come together and have a good time. The event is a safe place for diverse people to peacefully gather; their will be clubs/groups with tables set up and visual artist as well displaying their art. The Express Yourself Festival is also a family friendly harvest potluck so bring a dish. Their will be live music and speeches. Non-competitive games such as hacky sack and frisbee will be played. The event will end with a free-for-all jam in which everyone is invited to share the stage together (so bring your instruments). I hope to see you there, expressing yourself and getting inspired by others who choose to express themselves.

If you have any questions/comments feel free to contact me.

Hey Frank. I just wanted to say hi and let you know how cool Milo is. He's so far out! (And cute too!) We're so lucky to know him.
I know it's weird to write to you and just go off about Milo, but he's just that rad! I'm telling everyone!
