This new album, (their third one to date) has confirmed Franziska’s arrival at a proper and definitive reggae sound faithful to its roots but also attentive to international and contemporary references. Roddy, the new vocalist, has been part of the group since 2004 and facilitating the black and white dualism by alternating and experimenting with the different qualities of Piero and Roddy’s voices. Both on stage and in the new songs, one can find a sublime combination of melodic sound, ragga and ragamuffin, in a constant quest for the evolution of their sound.

Franziska’s new sound, a perfect mix of roots and dancehall atmospheres, represents the best of Jamaican music Made in Italy. This new record moved up the charts last summer thanks to the single Good morning (Midnight), having been on the radio since the end of June 2006 and by the November release Dancehall Party, out on the radio and on video. The video clip, made by Fabio Jansen and Naù Germoglio, was shot entirely in London this fall and it’s already getting air time on MTV and All Music.

A great passion for Jamaican music of the 70's, years in which the small Carribean islands hot summer nights were coloured by the growing rhythm of the rude boys and in which the first sound systems vibrated in never ending clashes, to todays tighter rhythms modernised by the contamination of hip-hop which reach out to all corners of the planet. This black culture is analysed in every aspect by the eight members of the band whos aim is to create an appealing sound and work on an international project.

In 2005 Franziska started a new chapter of their musical evolution. During the 10-year existence of the band, their sound eveolved just like their genre had evolved in the broader timeline of musical history. Going from ska to rocksteady, Franziska have now reached their own, definitive form of reggae. It has clear allusions to the roots and traditions of this sound, but is nontheless aware of contemporary foreign influences, coming from Germany, the United States, and Jamaica itself.
The current line-up has created a unique and personal sound which is closer to international rather than Italian standards. With the addition of new member Roddy Labonte', Franziska have created a sound which no one else in Italy proposes, but which is getting a lot of attention and airplay from international radio and television networks. Born in the Seychelles, Roddy grew up in a rasta community, assimilating its culture and learning jamaican patois language. Franziska's new formation has an international feel and their sound is now complete: their show is entertaining, fascinating and dynamic, going from melodic moments and tighter roots rhythms to raggamuffin vocals, creating a true dancehall mood.
