Franzschubert & the Schuubs LIVE at The World Cafe
Originally a studio project, FRANZSCHUBERT was created in 2002 by musician/composer Andrew Lipke and artist/musician Ian Jarvis as an experiment in genre bending, goofiness and modern music. "The collaborative element allowed us to explore a variety of styles and influences while maintaining a consistent, yet unique sound, dubbed 'Friend Rock.' The initial result was BUMP!, our first full length album which we recorded and produced entirely by ourselves.
"Consistently providing live-wire entertainment is no simple task, so we have gathered five of Philadelphia's best musicians to form our backup band: THE SCHUUBS. Beyond playing originals and covers from a vast repertoire, as a live act we have developed tons of wildly interactive games like limbo contests, hula hoop competitions, audience participation for prizes... the FRANZSCHUBERT experience has truly become a contemporary variety show.
"While the foundation of each song is rock, the FRANZSCHUBERT sound is an ambitious, modern combination of styles ranging from calypso to techno, Motown to metal, hip-hop to hillbilly.... This bending of genres seems to invite all takers, from young children to music aficionatos or your average Joe, and keeps the new folks in their seats! Our lyrics are all fun, tongue-in-cheek allegories; nothing offensive, though possibly hiiarious." - Ian Jarvis
With our new release, Little Lamb-O's Birthday Party, we continue to do whatever it take to keep all the cool kids giggling and whistling.

Next week we will have a mArching band of Baby White Elephants making blindfolded vegan omelets with flamethowers full of liquid nitrogen...Kind of like a homicidal Gallagher show on acid...then next week it's the magic that only Kat Klix can bring with their feline quasi-furry musical act debuting their new CD and with a guest appearance by their sister band Dog Dix. Don't miss this night it will change yer life...
