1. Mohd Jayzuan “Love-fi” (Bodysurf Music) – RM10
Mohd Jayzuan’s debut album, released in early 2008; the album basically is an acoustic lo-fi folk album. Consists 14 songs in the vein of Lou Barlow (Sebadoh / Dinosaur Jr. / The Folk Implosion) meets Daniel Johnston. If you guys are lovers of ‘slowcore’ acoustic music or lo-fi fanatics, this is definitely for you. This Ipoh boy will come up with his 2nd album in this 2009 and the album will be release by us, yeah… us at Freak Music.

2. Free Love “Feed Us with Yr Love” (Bodysurf Music) – RM25
Another debut album and this time are from Ipoh’s own indie rock combo. For those that already familiar with Free Love’s music might get an idea how the album will sounds like and for those who are not, we must tell you that the album is worth buying, nuff said. The album is rich with indie rock guitar swing, glorious pop moments and of course sweet-catchy tunes.

3. Couple “Teenage Disc Fantastic” (Pet Projects) – RM15
When it comes to Couple, we can’t deny that this lo-fi power pop unit did it well, very well. Beautifully layered vocals and undeniable nice pop hooks at each of the songs and indeed its fantastic! You will be left wanting for more and because of that you should buy this brilliant album. Pop fans for sure will dig this.

4. They Will Kill Us All “Secret Episode” (Super Stellar) – RM20
Taking cues from the likes of Danish art rockers Mew, Suede and the now defunct Brit shoegazers Ride, TWKUA has delivered an ambition-filled recording full of magical melodic thrills and sonic invention. This meant combining soaring, harmonious guitar lines and dense, kaleidoscopic distortion with impassioned vocals, a muscular rhythm section as well as a sympathetic ear for pop melodrama. It’s the kind of album that says more than its words convey because the listener knows it’s part of something bigger.
