“FreaKozaks” Story
“FreaKozaks” was founded in Krasnodar in autumn 2007 by the ex-members of “Aspect” Anton Emelyanov (guitar), Sergey Krasnozhen (drums) and Alexander Chumakov (vocals). Roman Ryabtsev has joined the band as a bass player. So on, the musicians have started to write new material for their debut album. The music style of this album can be defined as modern & progressive metal.
During the time in “Aspect” Anton, Sergey and Alex met the famous guitarist Victor Smolski (“Rage”). Victor was impressed by the music of these young musicians from Krasnodar and invited “FreaKozaks” to join Rage’s European Tour-2008 as support-band. During the tour “FreaKozaks” has visited 13 European countries, played in 31 concert halls usually receiving an enthusiastic welcome from the audience and permanently gaining a great experience of team-work with “monsters” of Heavy Metal.
After the tour “FreaKozaks” came back to Krasnodar where their debut album “Back Outside” has been recorded. It will be released by Drakkar Records in the beginning of 2010. Producer of the album was Victor Smolski.
A Short Musicians’ Bio
Alexander Chumakov (19.03.1972) has graduated the Krasnodar Music College and then the Kuban State Academy of Culture and Arts as a violinist. In 1998-2004 he was a solist of “Ekatherinodar-Band” Jazz Orchestra and in 2002 the rank of the Honored Artist of Kuban has been conferred to him.
Anton Emelyanov (28.06.1980) took part in different musical projects since 2007: “Granit Angel”, “TSR” - a project of Dirk Ulrich (“Gifftig”) and James LaBrie (“Dream Theater”), “Aspect”. Being the guitarist of “Aspect” Anton also took part in “Made in Russia” and “The Global Battle of the Bands” Moscow musical fests. Now he is a student of “Igor Boiko’s Jazz Lab”.
Sergey Krasnozhen (02.09.1974) was a laureate of All-Russian contest of drums and percussion ensembles in 1996. In 1997-2007 he worked at Krasnodar Philharmonic, was a member of “Kazachya Volnitsa” State Ensemble and Kuban Cossacks Chorus in 2000-2002. Also Sergey was a member of “Granit Angel” and “Aspect” with Anton Emelyanov and Alexander Chumakov.
Roman Ryabtsev (25.09.1979) was a member of “Mudlinger” and “Black Hammer Band”.
At the moment the band “FreaKozaks” is preparing for their upcoming European tour 2010.
